My dear young lady,
(oh Zeynep is one of my fav names)
Who said that 26 is too late for a Bachelor's degree? In Europe and in the US a lot of people do not start university before 20. And let me tell you about myself. I got my first degree from Ankara university in 1974. I became an English teacher. After teaching for 20 years, I started a Master of Arts program (part time) and I got my degree a month before I turned 49. It was so beautiful, because not just my parents but my wife and daughter were there to watch me in cap and gown. It was a wonderful feeling.
You are still very young. I wish you all the good luck and success.

Dear Zeynepp,
Never mind the age, if you believe that a degree will help you accomplish your goals, do not hesitate. But I'd like to remind you of one key issue. The things that you want to accomplish may already be reachable, (unless you want to be a doctor or a lawyer). Most BA Degree holders in Turkey, do not work in related fields, or drop the program and learn by doing things and become more successful than the university graduates. There are things that do not require a degree. Please make sure that a university degree is going to enable you have your dreams. Do not believe in a regular university education, then you might be disappointed. I've graduated from one of the best in Turkey, and still got friends struggling to earn a living or be successful in their life. Consult your friends or even better to an academician in your favorite department. Best wishes in doing whatever your choice is.

No, not at all. Go for it Zeynepcigim. :-) You can approach your degree with the drive and maturity that can only be gleaned with life experience. As you now have a better idea of what you want from life, you can more effectively study for your given subject. You may even graduate earlier than my ex-boyfriend who at age 31 is still an undergrad at Bogazici because he keeps failing and is avoiding the military. You deserve to be there. He doesn't.

You absolutely should start! You are never too old to improve yourself and get an education. You're getting a later start than most because of your illness, but you're not starting later than many others. For example, I'm 42 and started a degree program 2 years ago. My parents finished college in the late 1950s and are STILL taking classes and learning! Go for it and good luck.

You can do ANYTHING you put your mind to!!!!!!!!!
I am 25 and I have I am into the 5th week of a five year double degree in Bach science psychology and bach commerce industrial relats and human res' management!

I am loving it and hey you will too, being mature age is a benifit, you appreciate every minute just that little bit more than the 18 years olds and you also have valuable life experience to bring with you.

So many people that I have spoken with who have either been to uni or have anticipated going but never made it tell me that they would love to still be there or too one day get
there..
If you seriously have the op to go, then you should not worry about the age thing. age really is no barrier unless you allow it to become one.............

You are just fine to go to school!

My younger sister got married and had a bunch of kids so she didn't get to go to school and she is now in her 30's and will be graduating this spring with her bachelors in secondary education.

GO FOR IT!!

Maturity can make all the difference in your approach to education since you know what it is like to work through serious challenges and make it through them, you will be a great student!

You should go for it. I went back to school at your age and I never regretted it. In fact I think it worked out better for me because I was more focused. I had lived a little and understood the importance of a degree. You can do it!

You should definitely go to college. Regardless of your age and health, college is important.
Collectively (over a lifetime), college graduates make 1.5 million more than high school dropouts/graduates do.
