tried several brands of discs. none work. they're recognised in the drive.but wont burn.

checked cd drive.got message saying no cd rom drive found. shut down, re-started and it was there. then door gets stuck sometimes. is it nacked or is there life in the old dog yet.?? it's up to date.i checked with pioneer.so i'm totally lost now.

i think the problem is how to use it...try to copy file to blank cd then (write these files to the cd))) without any programs like nero or others....best wishes

It sounds as though your drive may be goosed, if you know someone with a USB CD writer borrow it and try that on your system. If it works that confirms you are using the software properly. If not then uninstall Nero and reinstall it and try again. Most problems can be solved by a process of elimination. You did not say how old your drive is, they do not last fro ever. You can get a DVD /CD dual layer replacement quite cheaply now and they are not difficult to fit. Just make sure that the jumpers on the new drive are set to the same as the old one. Hope this helps.

Right, in Nero does the little "Burn" button appear? Also if you've added the burner AFTER installing nero you will need to re-install it.

How do they fail? Do you get a failure message? Is it definitely a CD burner for sure? Has it ever worked?
