How about driving a 3500 lb racecar around Bristol Motor Speedway, with 36* of banking, for 500 laps on a day when its 85* outside and probably 130*+ inside the car. All along with 42 other cars beating your bumpers and fenders off.

I would say triathlon, because it lasts for ever, it is physically challenging and also mentally because if I was on the last cycling phase and cycled past a pub it would take all the mental energy I had not to go in for a quickie pint and a bag of nuts.

The toughest sport ,in my opinion, is triathalon. It requires the highest level of conditioning, and the distances are often long (as in the iron-man) so the event can be grueling. It takes tremendous mental fortitude as well as physical strength. You go it alone.
I have done numerous sports, and triathalon is the toughest.
