After the 1941-42 season, the Brooklyn Americans (formerly the New York Americans) folded. That left the NHL with six teams -- the Original Six as we know it -- until 1967.

Which consisted of Montreal Canadiens. Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, New York Rangers.
