How long does it take to get pregnant after sex? I just need to know when to take a test coz I had sex last Wednesday so it's only been a week.

Well thanks for your answer SIMON but a condom is no good to me if I'm TRYING to get pregnant!!!

As long as the timing is right, the ovum has been released (ovulation) and the sperm has fertilized it, you can be pregnant in seconds after sex. But detecting it is another matter.
Many home pregnancy tests (HPTs) claim to be 99% accurate on the day you miss your period. But research suggests that most HPTs do not consistently spot pregnancy that early. And when they do, the results are often so faint they are misunderstood. If you can wait one week after your missed period, most home pregnancy tests will give you an accurate answer.
Pregnancy tests look for a special hormone in the urine or blood that is only there when a woman is pregnant. This hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), can also be called the pregnancy hormone.
The pregnancy hormone, hCG, is made in your body when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus. This usually happens about 6 days after conception.

Well Juicy Lucy, If you got pregnant it happened shorty after. Most over the counter can let you know in as little as two weeks. If your not wise up. a condom is a lot cheaper then the alternative

If you are pregnant the test will not show possitive untill the date after which your next period was due to start so you need to wait untill your late sorry x

if only it was that easy there is a very small window when you can conceive around ovulation it then takes about 8days for implantation and a further 3/4 day for the pregnancy hormone to show up in you urine hths

it can take just a few minutes to get pregnant but the safest way to find out if you are pregnant is 3 days after you might have concieved. i hope everything goes well with it and i hope you get your wishes to get pregnant i am 33 weeks pregnant and that is 8 months and i am having problems myself i have restless sleap i get up every hour literally. well hope everything goes as you hope good luck

You need to wait untill your period is late.. hpt's say they will work as early as the first day of your missing period.. blood tests can detect around 4 days before your missing period (I think) .. good luck and don't worry (worry can delay your period too) x
