there are a number of reasons as most people have pointed out. Dirty fans, worn bearings, hard drive getting dodgy. One piece of advice, if you have a lot of important stuff pictures music work or whatever, get an external USB drive. They can be obtained for as little as £50 nowadays. Then copy all your important stuff onto it just in case. If the worst happens and your computer packs up at least you have got a backup. You really should back up regularly. Good Luck.

this is just normal ...as long as it has been doing that since but if it has just started then i guess its your fan which is complaining either from accumulation of dust or from it becoming old
At start up the fan and the hard disk do make some noise for some time then come to normal once the system is up and running
try doing some cleaning

A little more info...

Are you hearing the start up system event sound? I hate it!

Other sounds you may here

- Hard drive turning on
- Loud CPU
- Fans - Mostly likely what your hearing.
- Sometime my northbridge fan makes a loud annoying sound. I shoot it with some WD-40 and its good to go for the next month or so. If its a fan, remove it, clean it and shoot a shot of oil on the bears.

What kind of noise? Does it successfully startup?

If it is a fan noise that's not too loud, it's probably OK. If it is loud enough to interrupt a conversation it probably needs to be cleaned or replaced.

If it is beeping, one beep is normal. Multiple beeps can be a "Post error" and you would need to check with your manufacturer's website to see what it means.

Your pc is either a packard beel or advent or has an fsp power unit in it. The fan is probably on its way out and will eventually fail.

When it does fail your pc will just decide to turn itself off. It will then be time to get a new psu for your pc.

Best to get it checked out.
