It could be your DVD player. Some DVD players will not play movies made by a computer. Take your DVD to a friend's house or to a store that sells DVD players and ask them to try it. Try it in several, I'll bet you'll find that it's your player...

Make sure you're burning the disc as "data." Try writing as "disc-at-once" or turning off multisession disc. Try only putting the files in the root folder.

And most of all make sure your DVD player support playing mpg and avi files or whatever type of file you're trying to play.

You have to convert the file before you burn it on to a disc.

I use WinAVIVideoConverter and have found it excellent.
When I burn it on to disc I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 6.

I have downloaded quite a few movies and burnt them onto discs and they have all worked on our dvd player with no problems.

Have fun
Hope this helps you

ask yourself these questions:

1- do I have a DVD burner on my computer?
2- Did I burn the movies on a DVD disk or a CD?
3- In what format are my movies? Are they in a .VOB (DVD format) or .AVI. or Divx. etc
4- Did I burn the .VOB movies into a data disk or a DVD compiler
5- Is my DVD player working fine? Try a rental or a movie you've bought before

6- ENJOY your downloaded movies on your TV
