If it got close for you to have one and you said no, then you done the right thing. He will (or should) respect you for that.
You ain't strange...you were uncomfortable with it. If you are able to contact him and you like him then be kind of casual about it and just tell him. You would like to get to know him but you didn't think sex was the right answer for the first time of meeting.
How do I know this? I used to do nothing but try to get women in bed and it usually worked. All it caused was us getting off on sex. No emotional attachment.
I met my wife and I tried the same thing...didn't work. After six months of dating we finally had sex. We've been married now for 17 years because I found a woman that I respected.

You didn't want to have a one night stand or you would have had one. You are just having second thoughts which is normal. Imagine if you did and he turned out to be a complete jerk that never wanted to see you again. Try to get to know a guy before you jump into bed. You'll be glad you didn't do this in time.

"One night stand" already implies that you won't ever see him again, at least not for the same reason. If you were really that attracted to him, perhaps you feared the one night stand would mean you missed your chance for something more special and longer lasting. If so, it would make sense for you to back out at the last minute. If you can, see if he's interested in dating you again.

If you like someone and think he's a nice guy, why would you want a one night stand with them? And why would you a nice guy want a one night stand? Makes no sense.

If it wasn't going farther than a one night stand why would you think that it would develop into something more?? You did the right thing...self respect is more important.

MY husband told me that if I had slept with him on the first or one of the first dates, then he wouldn't be my husband today. Guess it was a good thing I respected myself. He's a wonderful man! God luck!
