I am renting my childhood home off my parents with my bf. The other day my dad got the big poinsiana (sp?) tree in the backyard cut down. I was upset as i really loved that tree. But what also upsets me was that the guys that he got to come around and chop the tree down also trampled and killed all the plants i had planted in the garden bed surrounding the tree. Surely they should have more respect for someone elses garden. What are your thoughts....?

I knew the tree was geting cut down, i did thave a say in the matter. It was because it was "too big" (even though it was long overdue for pruning) and a branch fell and broke the neighbours shed even though she's claiming it on her insurance and she didnt want the tree cut down herself, what im more worried about are my dead plants that the guys trampled

I think someone should have told you this was going to happen and at least let you have some say in the matter as you ARE the one renting it. Was the tree diseased or getting ready to fall on the house. If not I don't get it. Oh well if your plants were perennials they may come back to life although damaged this year. If they were annuals you might as well replant. Sorry

You should have protected the plants so that they weren't trampled on, and your neighbor should have been informed about the tree coming down. The people who did the cutting should have been more careful about cutting branches over someone elses property. They should be liable for damage done to property.
