yea it does you no good what so ever!!! believe me i'm in that place right now and its bloody depressing at times, don't think it does wonders for your self esteem either! I recently moved with family, got a job thinking i would be able to meet people....no such luck there were about 4 other people so much older than me (old enough to be my parents), i am only 20. I am sat in an office on my own and its horrible, like solitary confinement and it can really get you down. You start craving interaction, well i do, but then because my confidence is not good in a way it is a comfortable place to be. I have my own horse and i keep it at a yard where again everyone is so much older than me, yes i get social interaction but its not the same as mixing with people your own sort of age, i can't go out and have a fun night out with them, they're past doing that sort of thing. I'm not the most confident person either so going out to pub or somewhere on my own is never going happen. Thankfully i get out of this job on friday and into another working in a team of young people. Hopefully i will make some friends there and get my life back on track!

It depends upon whether you're an introvert or extrovert. If you're an introvert, you might find too much social interaction and too many outside activities stressful. You might enjoy your own company. Even so life cannot be very stimulating if you NEVER go out. If not going out is through choice being alone must satisfy something in you or maybe it's because of depression or illness. Humans need stimulation. If the situation's bothering you that you must ask about it maybe you should start taking an interest in community events and slowly getting out more.

Just means that when you do finally go out, you will realise why people do it and probably go out six months straight and not remember much as you've been wasted the whole time. There is nothing wrong with it at all although if you're quite young you should do it for experience at least in with the opposite sex. You will need it when you're older!

We need sunlight, fresh air and interaction with nature for health. Not going out wouldn't totally destroy us but would be bad for us.

It wont destroy you but probably change you. We adapt to our surroundings and unless you are used to going out you dont need to although you do need to have contact with people to furfill your social needs. Obviously people do because it makes them happy. I love going out. I never used to though but get over that first hurdle and there will be no keeping you in! I know someone who is disabled and doent go out ever, probably once or twice a year and he is fine!

You'd lose the ability to communicate verbally and through body language with other people. You'd also lose any sense of connection with people and you''d also become very insular and eventually depressed, because you only had your thoughts to keep you company. Why do you ask?

Youll eventually become a hermit and forget how to communicate with others.
Join a club or something.
Good luck.

It keeps you in your comfort zone if you don't go out. Stretch the comfort zone and get out. You'll likely not regret it.
