how do i think of an appropriate title for my short story?

First the title should be eye catching. That is, it should look different and generate curiosity in the readers.

Second, the title should tell about the end (that is conclusion part of story) provided the story is not of the type in which some suspence is revealed at the end.

If the story is light type, the title should be humerous
If the story is is a satire, then try something funny such as - " and the moral of the story is..."
If you do not get any ideas, just write the names of the key characters such as "suzen and her friends" or "arthur and mary" something like that.

something which sums up the story if it is for school... or just a random thought - a friend of mine named a story Men, Lawyers, and Life while the actual story was about a cruise getting shipwrecked.

i personally believe that a title for a short story can be anything you want it to be as long as it is not abusive then it it appropriate.
