Why is it that the U.S/NATO have to act like the worlds "Police"?
Isn't that basically the U.Ns job or am I mistaken?
Why does the U.N ignore everything?

The UN doesn't have power because the powerful countries don't give it any power.
The UN doesn't ignore everything. It's the powerful countries that make up the UN who ignore everything. Such as the US, for example, which will go into any war it wants to (like Iraq), despite UN opposition & resolutions against it.
The only way this can be rectified is if all countries, but especially the most powerful ones, give up a certain amount of their power, and submit to the democratic authority of the UN, on issues related to global affairs. (Much like the 50 US states give up a certain amount of their own power to the US federal government pertaining to national/foreign affairs).
Obviously, this will only happen if the powerful countries set an example, which will only happen if the people support it.

The U.N. doesn't ignore everything it's just that they are an advisory counsel meaning that they only have the power to advise other nations. Now given permission by a nations government they can enter and police the area. Such as in Darfur, Sudan there is a genocide taking place and the U.N. recognizes it and has sent aid and have even asked the Sudanese government to allow them in to help, but the government says that they have it under control. So its not that they ignore everything it is just that nobody gives them the power and resources to help.

you are mistaken. The UN has no real power. It is basically set up to keep countries talking to minimize wars. It has no troops or police any time the UN wants to do something the countries that want to do it provide troops and slap UN stickers on them. It can not make laws but only have people agree to treaties. It was not set up to control the world just minimize the number of wars through communication.
