In my experience, it's not a big deal for adults except in the religious sense.
Kids wake up Easter morning to find a basket left by the Easter bunny, with candy and small toys in it. I always got a chocolate bunny in mine.
Then the kids go on a Easter Egg hunt. The Easter bunny hid the eggs you decorated the day before, and the kids have to find them all. No one actually "wins" the game, it's just fun. Some folks use plastic eggs with small prizes in them instead of real hard-boiled eggs.

In my family, my husband and I make Easter baskets with chocolate eggs, rabbits, marshmellow candies, and jelly beans and a few cheap toys, and give those to the kids. We also give baskets to each other with our favorite Easter candies.
We also color eggs. When I was little we went on hunts, where the adults hid them and the kids had to find them, but some eggs always gets broken or lost or they arent' shared fairly, so I'm not planning on doing that. Instead I use the eggs in deviled eggs which I serve at dinner. The grandparents may take the kids on hunts if they like, I just don't want to try to arrange and manage them.
I make a nice big dinner for the extended family and we all have chocolate bunnies for dessert.

Thanks for sharing the UK tradition, it is fun to learn about other cultures and their traditions.
When I was kid, my brother, sister and I all got our own Easter basket that had candy in it. My parents used to get these great eggs that were handmade. They were white or milk chocolate, beautifully decorated with icing flowers and were hollow. Inside, they had hershey kisses. Plus, jelly beans, peanut butter eggs (my personal favorite, even today!) When we got older, a small gift was given and a table Easter basket had candy for the whole family. This is how I do it now that I have a family. My daughter got her own Easter basket with candy when she was young, now we get her a small gift and have a basket of Easter candy for all of us on the dining table.

this question would not be able to EVER be exact. Are you looking for people that celebrate religiously or are you looking for people who hunt for eggs. to be honest with you Easter started as a pagan holiday. eggs and bunnies have nothing to do with Christ, us Christians "moved" days around so the pagans would not have a holiday of theirs.

we search for eggs all over the neighborhood where neighbors hide them in discreet places on their yard. Afterwards we go home and relish in the milky, creamy, sugary, treasures.
