Ok so why do they still call it MTV when they play Music Videos like one hour out of the day and the other twenty-three hours are devoted to reality tv shows, dating shows, etc. What happened to MTV???

No I didn't JUST realize this...It just started to annoy me cause the shows just keep getting worse wnd worse :(

because of geo internal economic policies created at inception the name has an inherent as well as adversial value at contract inception

Let me guess: that hour of music videos is the weekly Top 20 Countdown, or did they stop doing that, too?
I think by '92, MTV decided not to play videos and to have more shows, like all the other cable channels. Fifteen years later, MTV is now just like all the other cable channels: they have shows, and most of them suck.
Now, if I want to see a music video, I have to go to the Internet. And, since my monitor's about the same size as my TV, and the speakers are pretty decent, there's no difference. Plus, I can always rewind, fast-forward, replay...very convenient.
Video may have killed the radio star, but the 'Net gave the video star another small screen to shine on.

Are you Just realizing this? Hun, MTV hasn't been *music* since around 1989.
Forget MTV. It's done more harm to music than good, IMO. It's all about appearance & some *director's* image of the songs as opposed to the listener's own imagination.

yea.. i remember that i could wake up at 6 on vacation, watch videos till 8, then do something. whenever i turned it on there were videos! and i also think they should play cool stuff.. and REAL rock. the rock videos.. they sound like some twisted P!ATD stuff..

WOW they still have an hour of videos? are you sure?!? I think they replaced that last hour of videos w/ re-runs of realworld of 95'
