i am partial to the playstation. i will tell you why. first, you are gonna get a lot of fanboy answers. people are gonna tell you one sucks without ever playing it. so listen to me. i had the ps1 and loved it. i had the ps2 and loved it. and then i bought the 360. god what a horrible mistake. i had it 4 months and i literally had it sent out for repairs more than i actually had it. and when it did work, it looked ok. i admit, it was an early 360 and from what ive seen of gears of war, it looks pretty sweet. but i dont care, i owned the 360 and it caused me nothing but grief. maybe its made better now, i dont care. so last month a bought the ps3. guess what. i love it. its amazing. everything about it is better than the 360. heres one stupid reason to choose the ps3 over the 360. when i had the 360, it was very loud. everyones was. it was normal. i thought, well, its an advanced machine and need multiple things running to make it work so of course its loud. when i bought my ps3 i thought the same thing, that i was gonna have to get used to the disck spinning noise. guess what, the ps3 is pretty much silent. when i am downloading something huge, i do it at night when i sleep. i could never do that whith the 360. so i have played um both and i am telling you, the ps3 is better. the only reason to get a 360 is if you live halo. people will tell you all the ps3 games are coming to 360. true, but the opposite is true. halo and gears is the only good exclusives. and halo isnt out yet. so a year and a half for 1 good exclusive. well, my ps3 is playing resistance and motorstorm. 2 great games that will never come to the 360. and the ps3 has only been out for what, 4 months. as you can tell, i am partial. but ive seen both world and the 360 sucks.

if you can wait a year my answer would be the PS3, if not buy the 360. the PS3 is capable of so much more than the 360, but like someone else mentioned, Sony screwed pretty much everything up with the PS3 launch. Terrible line up of games, low supply, bugs,.......etc.
Sony will work out the bugs eventually, but the extremely low number of consoles sold when compared to the 360, is costing them their past exclusivity contracts with game developers. This means you are seeing previous "Playstation Only" titles going to the 360 as well (Grand theft auto, Devil may cry). If both consoles have all the same games, why pay 600 bucks for the PS3?
Xbox live just keeps getting better and better as well. The only thing Sony has is the Blu Ray player, and in a year or so the prices on stand alone players will drop taking the title of "Cheapest Blu Ray Player" away from the PS3.
The 360 really has an impressive lineup of games. The guy that says that the PS3 has better games is plain nuts.
Consider all the factors surrounding your purchase and make the decision that best suits you.

Basically, the PS3 has everything the 360 has. However, the PS3 comes with MORE things than the 360
When comparing the 2 better systems of each, these are the ps3 advantages: (aka, ps3 has more things included for only $200 more
-40 more gigabytes on hard disk drive
-100% backwords compatibility with ps2 and ps1 games
-Built-in WiFi card ($100 add-on to xbox 360 premium)
-Built in hi-def movie player = blu-ray ($149 HD-DVD drive add on to xbox)
-HDMI Output (xbox cant achive hightest res: 1080p)
-Memory Stick reader (...xbox cant do that, period)
- No need to pay $$$ for online gaming, friends, messages, all that is free on ps3 (monthly fee for xbox live)
-PS3 discs (blu-ray) can hold 50GB of data (more resolution and more depth and story and niceness of games) where as xbox 360 games are the normal 8GB dvds (pitiful)
-Hook up to the psp to add more features in future games, such as a second screen for a map or something like you saw on the Nintendo DS
-Games suck right now but will eventually catch up with 360s games. This is because 1) makers of games had little time to develop on the ps3 and 2) since the ps3 just came out, the games need to be worse in all aspects so the developers can have SOME type of imporovement in coming years. If the games used the full potential of the PS3 right now, there would be no space for improvement, which would cause bad reviews.

right now, i'd go with the 360. there's more do do with it.
I have a ps3, got it right before christmas, and honestly, i've done little else than play blu-ray movies. in that same amount of time I've played through and finished 8 games on my 360. each of them was at least 2x as good as the best available ps3 game right now (resistance: fall of man). Look, I've been a sony guy since the first ps came out, but they've really dropped the ball with the ps3. Hardware glitches, overheating issues, weak launch line-up, below average technical support, and don;t get me started on the online multiplayer. Ant to top it off, from what it looks like, there won't be any games worth playing for a couple of months still, and even then there's no guarantee that the ps3 version of a game will be any better than the 360 version of that same game.

computing device. construct a quad middle, 4 gig Ram, with a 6770 or 550 for round $six hundred-$seven-hundred then you really can play computing device video games. Gamecube and Wii video games with the Dolphin Emu. you may play PS1 and PS2 video games with epsxe1&2 Play any sport for the former structures, GB, NES, Atari, MAME, etc, etc.. DS video games too. easily the purely video games you won't be able to play on computing device are, xbox1 xbox360, psp, and ps3. and that i have a CFW psp for the psp, and a supercard dstwo for my DS. PS3 HAS NO GAEMS maximum the forged 360 video games are on computing device too, so really i'm no longer lacking some thing a lot, and that i nonetheless have way extra video games then I have time to play lol, I have a million 1TB stress complete, and that i'm starting up on the second one. in case you do not opt for a computing device, get a 360.

Are you kidding me!? If you can afford a PS3, then what are you waiting for? Its got better games.
Xbox should only be bought for one of two reasons, (1) Halo and (2)Madden.
If neither of these reasons pertain to you, then you have no reason to get an Xbox 360.

My sister bought her son a X 360, those new ps3's seem too much. I have heard that blue ray is the next DVD, but I'm not sold yet, especially what they are asking for it.
My son can count the inches of dust on his ps 2 that he never uses. It seems a waste of time to buy something for kids that they will never use....

PS3 one of the best console of playstation series. Sony, sure is best gaming company and are providing us consoles since 7-8 years. The Microsoft don't have any gaming experience and it is their debew console. So, I THINK PS3 will be better option than XBOX.
