Bacterial Vaginosis, lol, I`m on antibiotics for it right now.Is the discharge greyish and fishy smelling? Are you itchy? You may need to see a doctor. I`m actually starting to smell better after 3 days on the antibiotics.

If there is any itching or burning, or the discharge has increased in amount and odor, or has been going on for more than a week without change, it is time to head to the doctor. The most common culprit is a yeast infection, which you can use over the counter treatment for. But if you have never encountered this situation before, it is best to see the doctor so he can be sure that is the case. Other issues can cause similar discharge...specifically STD's....so it is best to be safe.

A lot of things could be going on. Most likely you have some sort of infection (or in other words an overgrowth of either bacteria or yeast). Have you recently had your period? If you use tampons you need to make sure that you have not left a tampon in. This can cause oder AND infection. DO NOT douche! If you have an infection the douche can push it up into your cervix and possibly your uterus, you don't want that. See your doctor to rule out anything dangerous.

Thingss you can do on your own:
1) Be sure to rinse yourself thoroughly when you bath. Harsh soaps can irritate the tender skin and lead to infection.
2)Try taking some sort of probiotic. This will help to populate the good fauna in your body. You may also put them directly into your vagina IF it is just a capsule, (not some flavored chewable).
3)Watch what you eat. Some foods cause your body to put off more oder. It varies form person to person. Sugar is pretty much bad in everyone though.

Good luck! Hope this helps.

The cause would probably be some form of infection, but it's not possible to diagnose what kind online. See your doctor, since any infection there could potentially travel up into your reproductive tract and make you sterile, or worse.

most discharge with odor is an infection, if it's thick or clumpy it can be yeast & if yellowish it may be bacterial vaginosis (2 common infections with odor) they all can be treated usually with pills or creams from a gynocologist-- read these pages, they explain different types of discharge, causes and related stuff.......http://www.pamf.org/teen/health/femalehealth/discharge.html
