I have more than once come across a May 32 in old parish record books--Why was this?

Were the clerks just wrong, or did I read wrong?

One was 32 de Mayo 1804 in Argao, Cebu, the Philippines--in Spanish. I'm sure there were other records. Could be just a very arty "31" or a very absent-minded clerk then without the aid of the modern calendar on one's desk.

(a) You read wrong
(b) The old clerks made a 'typo'
(c) It actually means the year - May '32 - 1732, 1832 or whatever.

do you know wich calendar system was beeing used at the time? it could help allot. If you don't, could you provide us with the year and place were those parish record books were written?
