The earth most likely formed almost 4.6 billion years ago. It formed out of our solar system's solar nebula, which is huge mass of gas and dust that condenses into a swirling disk. Due to gravitational attraction a star (the sun) formed in the center of the disk and planets (such as earth) formed in the outer regions.
