I met this lady a few years ago, I gave her my email address, and for a while we exchanged personal letters, but she has been overtaken by rampant "send this to ten people or else" affliction. How do I cure her of this annoying disease?

How about showing her a lot of court cases where people were convicted of crimes for sending chain letters?

Here are a few:

Send the following chain letter to her. It worked on my diligent blessing forwarding nemesis. If she still doesn't have a clue, do as someone above suggested, block her, it's not like you are losing a real friend.

Hello, and thank you for reading this letter. You see, there is a starving little boy in Baklaliviatatlaglooshen who has no arms, no legs, no parents, and no goats. This little boy's life could be saved, because for every time you pass this on, a dollar will be donated to the Little Starving Legless Armless Goatless Boy from Baklaliviatatlaglooshen Fund. Remember, we have no way of counting letters sent and this is all bull. So go on, reach out.

Send this to 5 people in the next 47 seconds. Oh, and a reminder-if you accidentally send this to 4 or 6 people, you will die instantly.

Thanks again!!

I lied and told some old high-school friends that my computer sends those directly to spam and I never get them so stop sending them, and know what? I STILL get them all the time over a year later. So I just delete them. Is that why my fortune has not grown and why I am still blessed with no house?

Ugh! You have two choices.
Ignore and delete each and every one... (I don't even read them anymore!)

Or hit reply with a very brief: "Please remove me from this mailing"

Nothing else.. but you may back it up with a separate email (I usually do because I'm a bit of a bleeding heart) that's friendly and has nothing to do with the spam itself... don't even mention it though in the second email... or it will dilute the message your trying to get through.

Did that makes sense? I'm just waking up...

Send it to her ten times and tell her you dont have any other friends and are really afraid of whatever and let her deal with it
or is that a bit much,
funny though,...
just ignore them,
delete,
ask her not to send them cos you have no one to forward them to and dont want to make people feel the pressure of making their friends not want to read their mails

This is an incurable disease. It is best to give the victim plenty of bed rest, soup and restrict Internet access to control the disease.

By the way-I love your avatar!!!
And I say just push her down into a puddle! Then threaten her if she doesn't push ten more people into puddles, then she will soon develop a flesh eating disease!

Send her a "chain letter" promising bad things if she sends it to anyone.
