Interesting!
If the cat was alive, the dog would chase it.
If the cat was dead, the dog would want to chew it but be unable to until a bell went.
If the cat was alive and had a bell on its collar, the dog would chase it while salivating madly.
Cheers, Steve.

He would shout, "scooby dooby doo" whilst salavitating madly, until it turns out the the cat is in fact a ghost, neither alive or dead, chasing him around like all Scooby Doo monsters. Not to worry though, it will all be sorted when the dog finds his scooby snacks.

well, the dog is already salvating when the bell rings, and the cat in the box is both alive and dead until the point at which it is observed, and so in this state, dead alive or both, the hungry dog would eat the cat which it percieved as dinner by virtue of the ringing bell... assuming that is... Pavalov's dog was capable of opening said box in the first place.

P. Doggy: Yo puddy cat. Yo 'live o' dead?
S. Kitty: You tell me, you're the one observing!
P. Doggy: Yo sho look live to me shorty!
S. Kitty: How closely are you looking?
P. Doggy: Hey where d'you go? I can't see you!
S. Kitty: Tsk... That's what I thought...
[and so, due to the disruptive staring, P. Doggy got a good look at S. Kitty, but couldn't judge her location subsequently]
