If someone is only interested in people when they are ill or looking after someone who is ill and looses all interest when things get better, what would be the reason? This lady is also very dramatic and gossipy- quite two faced really. In short she revels in people's problems

It's difficult to say as I don't know much about the situation! Some people are just genuinely bitter, nasty people! Sometimes people feel inferior themselves, and only feel better about themselves when they know someone is worse-off than them, such as if they are ill. There's so many things that can cause a person to be the way they are, we cannot even really comprehend what causes someone to be so seemingly evil.

It gives her ego a boost to think other people need her. She might need to feel appreciated. If she thrives on other people's misery, perhaps she's feeling unfulfilled and miserable herself and she is giving others the attention she secretly craves. Her dramatic behaviour might hide feelings of insecurity. Sadly because she loses interest when things get better and because she's gossippy and probably has a reputation for not being discreet, she doesn't give herself a chance to develop lasting or fulfilling relationsips.

Hi Doris - The answer is that this is her chosen ego state, she chooses to conduct herself like a nurturing parent and when that is not being fulfilled she moves on and looks for somewhere else she can adopt her chosen behaviour and communication pattern.

This is really common and not gender specific. As ever it is not as simple as that, the bigger picture is mind blowing. If you want to know more go to www.businessballs.com and look in the links on the left for transactional analysis
