I've lived here for 37 years and have never seen anyone shot, stabbed, or even beaten. I haven't seen anyone dead in the streets or even close to death. I haven't been exposed to any hate crimes or even mass prejudice. I have seen however the following~ people who give until it hurts when others are in need, People who take a child into their homes so that it doesn't have to be exposed to the elements, people who will let you borrow their car because your is broken down, people who will keep your kids while you do something so that you won't have to pay a sitter, people who will give you money, food, clothes, and any other thing they may have if you need it. All of these people were Americans! Some where white. Others black. Some who were born here in the states and others who came here from places they no longer desired to call home. Some of them were what I would consider wealthy but most were in lower income brackets.
America is safe. Yes we have our problems. Yes we have had our fair share of bad publicity. Yes there are pockets of this country filled to the limits with stupid, ignorant, and down right dumb people. The joy of America is this: If you don't like the people around you, you can move and still be a part of the country. I own several guns but have never shot, attempted to shoot, or even thought about shooting another human with any of them. I believe that I would be the same even if I lived in another country. I don't carry a gun in my pocket or even in my car. I don't even carry a knife unless I know that I will be needing to cut something. By the way, I'm from the South, too. All of this southern hospitality is wonderful. Come visit some day!

Well..it depends on where you go, really. I live in a fairly small town and we have a low crime rate. But the USA does allow guns and weapons for most of its people. And you can't judge america by actors from hollywood or by politicians. We're actually much nicer than that.

Well, it depends on where you go. Some big cities are dangerous. Bigger cities have a higher crime population. If you are thinking about coming here the east coast is very nice place to live. States like Virginia, New Jersey, and so on.

*Smiles* America is no more dangerous then any other place in the world, and people will be people and make things dangerous in every country. If it's not guns, it's knives, if it's no knives it's fists. Every country has it's violent criminals and in this information age everyone everywhere hears about them. It's a shame we don't hear about more good and peaceful things. And we don't all have guns in our pockets, that's a myth.

it is a never ending disease - LIFE - each day every day remains dormant, as i get older i realise that we exist to consume and be consumed. We are ants, scuttling around, existing in a world created by governments, corporations, financial institutions and religions. It is strange to me that we are told that we live in a free society, yet, is it truly free? we pay taxes on everything we need, everything we buy, water which should be free, is charged to us, whether from the tap or by the bottle. Essential needs like healthcare, heating, clothing are all charged or/and taxed. To have a roof over our heads, we pay ridiculous sums of money for decent housing, so the rich keep getting richer and the poor, will, eventually die. Sometimes i think i am the only one who see's all this. who thinks all this. Does not anyone else care? Liberal minded people come across as too weak, other political parties change their minds like the wind. There is no fair government for anyone in the world. It is time for change, it is time for sensible decisions to be made, it is time for all of us to be treated as equals.

Being in America is probably more dangerous than where ever you are but less dangerous than being an American in Iraq.
The world is a dangerous place. We must always be alert.
