Well yes, smoking while pregnant can cause problems to the baby. Many drs will encourage a pregnant mother to go cold turkey while others will encourage them to cut back until they can stop completely. I am curious if you smoke 10 a day or a 10 total in the 38 weeks. If its the 10 total then I would not worry too much. I smoked with my first pregnancy for a few weeks until I knew I was pregnant.
I will be honest....if you have smoked a great deal throughout your pregnancy there is a high risk to health issues for your child. If its only the 10 that risk is much much smaller. But they are still there.
The 2 weeks early will not be a problem for the baby unless there are already problems.
Good luck. I am hoping all is ok with your baby. And please if you get pregnant again please do not smoke.

Smoking is strictly prohibited during pregnancy. JUST THINK -- it is even "UNHEALTHY" to smoke when you aren't pregnant, how much more when you have a delicate baby inside your body???!! Yeah that really is DUMB. If you say that you are nervous or something then you should find other ways to relax instead of smoke!! The least you can do now is to tell your doctor all about your smoking and confide in him about your worries so you'll both know if there really is a problem before its too late and you can still fix it! Do it for your baby, and for God's sake, STOP SMOKING!.. oh, and one more thing.. SMOKING is also known to cause early birth as well as health problems to your baby and to yourself!

Well, I personally think you shouldn't smoke during pregnancy. Since you've already done it though you can't change it. About the baby's health, try not to worry to much that could harm tha baby as well. I'm sure that your doctor is doing the right thing. Just take it easy and follow his orders. I'll keep you and the baby in my prayers. (I hope that doesn't offend you or anyone who reads this. It was not my intention.)
Congrats on a new baby!

It really is too late to worry about that now. Have your baby and accept it for what it is. Back in the day when I was born women smoked during their pregnancies. My mom smoked while pregnant with me. I am fine. I hope you get lucky too.

Talk with your doctor and tell him your fears and then let him explain what you need to know. Also, after the baby is born you want to quit smoking because the baby is going to be at risk for other problems. My husband and I both have asthma and our mothers both smoked when we were little and now we take hundreds of dollars worth of asthma medication. My friend's grandson's mother smokes and he is only two and on asthma medications. Is it really worth destroying your baby's health?

i'm not gonna slam you for smoking, i smoke too. yes smoking does have risks, but that doesn't mean they are going to happen. my mom smoked and has me and 3 other beautiful, healthy children. my friend smoked and she had a healthy (over 9 pound) baby 6 months ago, and i smoked my last pregnancy, i had a healthy little boy.i can't make any guarantees for you but everything should be ok. 10 cigarettes a day isn't really that much. relax and think about the joys to come instead of worries. best of luck.

Even if you go full-term, smoking is a dumb idea when you are pregnant and can cause problems for your baby. Make sure your doctor knows you were doing something like that before he/she induces.

Well I hope everything turns out OK, you have my hope and prayers. I'm sure your baby will be fine and you will be a happy mother. When you have the baby, stop then. It only takes 3 days to stop the urges- really, I just quit, for the second time. quit and don't restart,,, you'll be fine.

You are right to be concerned! Didn't you know the dangers when you first found out you were pregnant. This is a risk that you took & you are responsible for. I hope however that your baby is healthy & I hope you give up the filthy habit.
