Same reason they say "can I get a coffee" instead of "May I have a coffee, please"........ they are crass, rude, loud, and uneducated.

What about "off of" instead of "off"? What about "catch on fire" instead of "set alight"? what about "y'all (you all)" for just one person? If you want answers to everything Americans say wrong, you'll have lists coming out of your ears.

I have nothing against Americans whatsoever, unless they happen to be racists or paedophiles; they gave me Bon Jovi
and Dave Batista! But these 3 little phrases really annoy me. Don't even get me started on "so not..." !!! But to be fair, we English kill our own language as well. There's a common little phrase in a certain northern town that is "have for' t". This translates into " have for to". There's no correct English form there either; so let's not be too hard on them, they could do a lot worse.

As (or like) lots have already said, it's a combination of the region, culture and educational levels. Other common mistakes are when to use....
1) I vs me
2) Bring vs take
3) Good vs well
and the classic
4) Ain't vs are not or aren't
(in fact, Ain't has been so commonly used, it's now become a 'real word'....even if it is still a brand of poor English).

That depends on where they are from. Most Americans consider "Do you got" to be uneducated and improper. Of course the same is true of " have you got". The correct verbiage, and what is used by most people in my area is " Do you have.." after that "have you got" is used more then "do you got" which I almost never hear from educated native speakers.

Not me, I say "do you have?"
My Mum would've never let us hear the end of it.. Believe me, proper grammar was a big deal when I was growing up.

scoucers say "Like" after everything and Black guys say "know what im saying" I guess these are all bad habbits passed down thru generations

Their education system is inadequate. Teaching proper grammar is often not part of the curriculum.
