regular shot is when you by yourself or have size advantage over your defender. If the taller defender in your face, you want to shot. Just fade away because you will decrease his angle and also decreases his chances of blocking you. If he goes for it, he will end up hitting while you shooting, if you make you have and 1 situation. Fadeways are hard and need to be master before you can score on someone that is all in your face and also getting the foul as well.

basically....the fade away jump shot is used to create some distance between u and a defending player. most players will use a fadeaway jumper when theyre going at their opponent in a one on one situation. like if u were backing down ur player in the post, u would use a fadeaway becaue ur player is already close to ur body, u would need to shift your body backwards to create some room so that your shot isnt blocked.

a regular jump shot is mostly used in a catch and shoot. but a lot of players will also use it as a dribble and pull up. although some players will dribble and fade towards the ring and opponent. players do this lookin for contact and the foul.

of course u can use a fadeaway whenever u like, however its not recommended because it can affect ur shots. in the nba, joe johnson has a fadeaway jumper and he uses it even when there are no players near him. he still says he needs to work on jumping straight up when he shoots.

as a player, i would say a regular jumper is a lot easier to use. if theres a player near u, and u dont wanna get blocked, then dont take the shot. if your near the key area then go for it. use the fadeaway ur in close range so falling away as u shoot shouldnt affect ur shot too much. falling away on the perimeter will do more damage.

A "regular jump shot" is the one that you want to take whenever you are open. If someone dishes to you and you can get the shot off, this is what you want to shoot. Your feet are set, your body is square to the basket....it should be a higher percentage shot.

You'll use your fadeaway if you have to get a shot off and the man guarding you is right up on you. For me, the only time I'll really fade on a shot is in the low post...usually when the guy guarding me is taller than me or can jump higher than I can (which nowadays is mostly everybody). If not, I usually don't even take a fadeaway shot, since that means I'm taking a bad shot...someone else should be open....after all, I ain't Kobe.

Good luck.

use a fade away when a defender who is taller than u and likely to block ur shot is covering u. go up for a regular jump shot when ur sure of getting it over ur defender or when ur wide open. good luck.

If you're open use a regular jump shot and if you're covered use a fadeway if you can make it and there's no one to pass to. Teamwork if someone else is open.

If you're covered completely and you know that there's no one behind you, jump back doing a 360 degree twirl and shoot. Only attempt when you can't pass and you can make the 360 in practice.

unless you're an advanced player, never use a fadeaway jumpshot unless there's 1 sec on the shot clock. You'd be much better off passing it.

fade aways are for tight defense and a jumper is usually when ur open or loosly guarded.. it really depends on what u wanna do... because you can also drive in
