I was born and raised in USA, Georgia, to be more precise, but I'm German. It seems to be one of man's hang ups to feel that another man is inferior or evil for so many divers predjudices. We are an ignorant lot. I'm confident, though, that one day the logic of love your neighbor will win out!
I have experienced a little predjudice, because I'm German. More than that for being a white man. Also, for being a man, for being a heterosexual, for being a non-Christian, for -----.

wow, fair question. No i dont hate Germans. I was not even alive then. It is part of history now, and for those who have hard feelings for something they never lived through, they really need to realize that its over and there is nothing that can be done. Same for any other issue in history. Nobody here should want to keep this hate going. It has to end.
This applies to blacks who want compensation for slavery, Japanese who want compensation for inturnment, Indians who want native land returned. Live for today. What has happened has already happened and we cant change it. Holding people responsible for these historical events when they were not even alive at the time is not fair at all.
We are not at war with the past and we dont want another war of that scale that will envelop the world
We are all equal, realize it

In the U.S., it's the only thing many people know about Germans. To make things worse, they confuse Nazism with Communism, Russia with Germany, and so on. I'm not making it up. So essentially you need to give a refresher course in modern European history before you even begin to correct this misconception.

It's just a case of prejudice fed by ignorance - and it's sadly universal . . .
I'm scottish - most scots feel it's almost a DUTY to hate the english - despite the fact that our last battle with them was more than 500 years ago, and we've been part of the same nation/state for more than 200 years . . .
sad sad sad . . . sorry to hear you were exposed to such nonsense

Obviously not. I do know there's a strong extreme right (neo-Nazi) movement, but this can be seen in France and Britain (along with most countries).

The problem is not with Germany's past - but with the narrowminds in your new place.
