I live in America, very close to a beautiful lake. I live in a quiet area where I don't even have to worry about locking my doors, and there is no light pollution and I can see all of the wonderful stars at night!

I'm not American either, aren't we naughty for ignoring the fact that the asker wants to hear from AMERICANS?
But now I'm here ....
Sunderland. If I had a car, I'd be five minutes from the countryside, ten minutes from the coast, both to the east. To the North, I think I'm about an hour from the Scottish border. Only been once on trip with my Dad's work, we went to Edinburgh. I remember being impressed with a tiny shetland pony at the zoo.
What do I love about Sunderland? When I've been abroad (anywhere south of Hartlepool) and am on the way home. I love seeing Penshaw (pronounced Pensher) Monument. It looks like the Acropolis in Greece and stands on top of a hill - it's all lit up now. You KNOW you're home then.

I like the fact that where I live is located on a beautiful golf course and it is very quiet. The country meadows are just about 1/2 mile away, and the only real noise problem is the US Air Force base down the road with their planes overflying once in awhile.
All in all, it's a cracking place to live!

The state I live in is also called the breadbasket of America. Agriculture and industry combine to round the place out.
