The largest saltwater hammerhead (great hammerhead) on record was 20.013 ft long: http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=914

There are a number of freshwater catfish and cyprinids that are called "sharks" because of thebody shape and fins, but I've never heard of a freshwater fish called a hammerhead shark. Is yours freshwater or saltwater? If he's saltwater and a true hammerhead, you'll need a much larger tank!

Your fish is a fresh water. Unless you know the species name, there is no way of telling.

The world record for a hammer head (Marine shark) is 14' 5"
Most never grow larger than 10-12 feet. However there have been three new species of hammerheads found off the coast of the Carolina's last year. Not enough is known about these fish since they just realized they are a new species.

Your fresh water hammerhead is not a true shark. Without the scientific name it will be almost impossiable to tell you how large it will get.
