That all depends, mate! Why do you have a can before you go to work? Because you like the taste, or because you NEED it? I've been drinking a can or 3 of cider every day for about a week, but simply because I like the taste more than anything else that's in our house!
Either way, probably best not to drink anything before work! Just save it until later!
If you feel that you *need* a drink, then yes, you are heading into the danger zone. It doesn't necessarily mean you are an alcoholic. Could you go a week without drinking? If yes, easily, then you have no problem. If yes, but you'd really fancy a drink, then maybe you're like most of us! If no, you definitely couldn't, then perhaps you have some dependency issues you need to look at.
If you go to the website below, you should be able to find out a little more.

I can' t tell you if you are an alcoholic (as in addicted to alcohol) or not, only you know that.
What i can tell you is that you are drinking far too much. I have lost my mother and my uncle to alcoholic liver disease, and i can tell you it's surprising how easily and quicky you can do serious damage to your liver. It doesn't take much, as too much alcohol can give the liver too much work to do, and after a while of not being able to keep up with the amount of alcohol you are giving it to beak down, it just stops trying.
Why don't you try and stop drinking during the week, and instead of spending the money you would on booze during the week, do something special, like go out for a meal, or put the money away for something you really want, like a new Tv or something.
Good Luck,
Michelle x

There is such a thing as a functioning alcoholic. They go to work every day and function in society yet they are addicted to alcohol. You may not be an alcoholic yet, however, if you continue to drink like this every day you will become one. Try taking a break and only drink on the weekends. If you have trouble doing that, I suggest you get help before it gets out of hand. We just had to do an intervention on my nephew and it was very sad. He is now in treatment and doing well. Don't let it go that far. You can control it!

I'd say no...
I work in Customer Services and believe me after I get home I need a drink or 5 after the abuse I get. Every day I have a drink of either a bottle of wine or a few largers.
Alcohol is actually good for the heart as long as you drink between 9-14 units (so my GP tells me, as we have a lot of heart propblems in my family) so I say drink on.
Mind you, I do drink a lot more than I should but what the hell.

Yes, very possible. Anyone who relies on alcohol in any way is an alcoholic. You don't need to be drunk all the time to be one, it just means you have a dependency.
If you can't cut it out completely, permanently, then you are an alcoholic.
Get help and advice before this goes too far.

They say that most drinking is done in the home and not in a pub or club, so it's possible. The question is could you break your routine of having 4 - 5 cans of lager one evening or would you find it difficult?

That depends. Could you actually go without the lagers? If you can and you do frequently, then probably not. If however you can't then I would say go and see the doctor and get some help.
