Ok, those who still are war supporters, not to be confused with troop supporters because there is a difference between supporting your troops and supporting a war, say that we are doing a great job in Iraq and that the media only picks up the small amount of bad things going on there. As far as these war supporters are concerned we have turned Iraq into a Utopian society and all is well. They say the media takes one occurrence, such as an insurgent killing civilians and soldiers in a early stage of a civil war, and make it bigger then it really is.They say we have things under control. They say we have brought peace to Iraq. They say we have brought American democracy and freedom.

Ok.Let us assume they are the ones who are right and not the media.Knowing what they
seem to know since they know more then the media, would you go live in Iraq for a year as a civilian?Would you live in an Iraqi neighborhood where everyone there knew you were an American that was living there?

No one is saying we brought peace to Iraq, that would be silly, it would take more than us to bring peace to Iraq. My little brother is currently in Iraq (Marine) I want him to come home and I am sure he wants to come home. If you support the troops that's what you do you SUPPORT the troops. I support your right to express your dislike of the war and have been seriously tempted to pick up a sign and hit the streets also but I personally see this as trivializing my brothers life which I choose not to do but I support your right to do it and I will even move out of the street so you and your fellow activists can get by, and hope that what your doing some how brings an end to this war. Iraq is not a Utopian society, I am not sure if they will ever have peace but I hope all the sacrifices made by our troops will not be in vain and the people of Iraq can some day have simple peace.

To answer your question/comment, no I would not live in Iraq with all the people knowing I am an American, but I would not have lived in Iraq before the war either, it was not safe before the war started and it is not safe now, will anything good come from this war? I hope so, for the sake of the people of Iraq who do not engage in hate and anger and for the troops that gave their lives so that the people of Iraq have a shot at a normal life, I would love to turn on the tv and see something simple in Iraq - maybe something as simple as the kids attending school or going to the corner grocery for a loaf of bread, that small victory would make me happy (for all).

Even though I did my time in the military, and I'm opposed to this war in Iraq, I would certainly answer the call if I signed an enlistment contract and fully understood what it meant by joining up again. Otherwise I would not enlist. It's not a soldier's part to make a decision whether or not a battle is for the right reasons. The main ideal is to serve your country in good and bad times, and to trust the leadership to make wise decisions in your behalf. If the military didn't choose to respond to orders we wouldn't have much of a defense or much of a country. Millions have made sacrifices. I would be willing to serve again in a moment's notice because I love my country.

This will simply be one of the experiences earlier than whatever is finalized. except, a troop withdrawal does not imply we're leaving Iraq totally. We will nonetheless be concerned in coaching Iraqi troops and operations towards Al Qaida. Even the Democrats approve of that. We're now not going at any place for a long time to come back, that I can warranty you.

Iraq... why do all liberals focus on the negatives of Iraq and then criticize for not doing more in Darfur? Or ask the question, would you live in Somalia? We're still in Iraq because it escalated domestically and we are responsible for mopping it up. Do you think the death toll is high now? Wait and see us pull out.. in Iraq and here stateside after Al-Qaeda's recruiting numbers soar because they "Crushed the infidels". Get this straight these are not "jihadists" they're "Irhabists"... if you don't know what it means I challenge you to learn something beyond CNN. The only war we are losing is the media war because they cash in on bad news, if they focused on the positives who would watch?

well with many of my friends, and by many i mean over 20, having served at least one term in iraq and the storys that they have told me i would have to say no. so many innocent people get killed all the time and why? to stop "terrorism"? well if innocent people are being killed over there then whats the difference between when it was happening here. doesnt that make us just as bad as them? my friends lives have been changed over this war. they have to see people gettin shot at every day and some of them are doing the shooting themselves. once you kill someone, good or bad, your life will never be the same again. that image is with you for life. i know thats what you should expect when you join the military but when you end up killing innocent people because they looked suspicious its a little different. when i asked my friends if they had the choice to go back again every one of them said "hell no" with out thinking about it. sadly some of them got shipped back and are hating every day of it. anyone that wants to go over to iraq for what ever reason needs to rethink there answers. this war did need to happen, dont get me wrong on that, but i think it should have ended a long time ago.

There is a village just south of the Baghdad International Airport that I would live in. It's probably the safest place in all of Baghdad. It has water, sewage, schools that are functional it will have electricity that's better than any other place in Baghdad, and the people are great. It's all Sunni so you don't have the sectarian violence issue.
