What is your premise?

Do you believe we came in with the Big Bang or do you believe we were created by a Supreme Being?

I think the answers to the above two questions are the crux of the answer to your original question.

If you believe we are just a result of a Big Bang, (theory A) some arbitrary thing that happened long ago of which we are a result, then the answer is arguably no. Because then we are just one more arbitrary factor.

If you believe we were created by a Supreme Being [Theory B] (who by definition would be all-knowing, etc., etc.) then the answer is, arguably, yes. Because then it is not arbitrary and there is some design involved with our existence.

If you accept Theory A we don't "deserve" anything.
If you accept Theory B it might not matter what we do or do not deserve. Part of the design might be to evolve into a better species.

What do I think? It's totally subjective, of course. I have a hard time imaging this poetry of a universe originating out of some arbitrary "Big Bang."

Because of my hard time believing in the Big Bang, I believe something more thoughtful and conscious happened. As a result of that belief, I think we deserve to survive because we are the only hope for bettering the very universe we threaten.

Time will tell.

In the grand design of the things sometimes evidence of a right for sometime is to be found in the acts asserting that right. I see that human race has survived its life in the pond, it has evolved through all sorts of ages, and it has established itself as a dominant species on this planet. Then based upon this, I can say that if human race has survived this far because it deserved to survive. It has proved its right to survive just by the act of survival itself.

But there are things unknown to human mind co-existing the universe, and then there are obstacles on this planet that we have not overcome yet; the trial is not over. A hopeful logic would say, if we have come this far then we could go even further, and what a mankind can be it should be.

In terms of religion however that matter takes an entirely different perspective. We can say that to exist is our divine right, and to survive our divine duty; it is our divine responsibility to make efforts for the survival of our race. For just by doing so we will be working right in compliance with divine laws, or in collaboration with the creator himself.

Now, may this be our infallible ability to last, or our divine ordination for the purpose, we have a strong case for survival in either case.

Deserve?

It's a moot point, since none of us will ever have the opportunity to make that decision.

Will the human race survive?

It has so far. And as long as it survives for the rest of my life (and for the lives of all those I care about), I don't care beyond that.

Sorry, I just cannot get concerned about something I cannot control.

hmmm good point....well to answer your question have to make something clear first....No philosophy made by human can answer your question cause human isn't perfect himself and he isn't evil and he isn't good and he isn't in between...No single person is just like the other you will find every type of people living in this world..so talking about the entire human race must be by the PERFECT..which is GOD...so when it comes to this point people have different gods in this world as i see Christians...Jewish...Muslims...and others..so to find an answer to this question ask your god in other words His book if this book answered your question and you believe this answer then No problem...if it didn't answer you...or you don't think this answer is right then you will have to look for the answer with another god lool......and the answer to your question in our religion is YES..... because Life is a test that God gives you....so human race must survive till the judgment day then all well get the results of their test and the you have two choices either heaven or hell.....depends on your choices in life if you were Evil , Good , Idiot, some other...you can ask your self something if human race don't deserve to survive why then god created sex....

I have no doubt that your question is politically motivated. With the continued harping on wars, famine, disease and now global warming, it would appear the human race is almost without a conscious. But the very fact that you would consider such a question proves that the human race is constantly trying to better itself. Good and bad will infect us no matter which direction we travel. It's always existed and it will probably never go away. Are we destroying the planet? I don't think so. Are we savaging the planet? Again, I don't think so. The resouces of earth are so vastly abundant we could never deplete them. The human race suffers the same malady that every creature on earth suffers. The instinct to dominate. Sadly, that will never change.

The film Se7en has a good quote on this subject at the end of the film. After witnessing the appalling horrors of the serial killer John Doe, Morgan Freeman says: "Ernest Hemingway once wrote: 'The world is a fine place and worth saving.' I agree with the last part."

Not the way it is now-but that is where God's mercy comes into action for He is not willing that any should perish but have everlasting life so He has put off dealing with us as we justly deserve but that day will come (think Tribulation) though true believers will be taken up to heaven with the Lord (Rapture) and many of you do not believe that but that doesn't change His truth as written in His word.

I think with all animals its survival of the fit. We have been around for so long and achieved so much, so as long as we keep striving then humans will still be around. Although at the same time humans have ruined a lot things in the process of progress, I think we will keep going for a really long time.

As Clint Eastwood said in The Unforgiven..."Deservin's got nothing to with it."
Who would or could for that matter decide whether a species human or non human, deserves the right to live? That is a question that I do not think can be answered.

Deserve? As in has a right to? And by who or what's standard?

Being worthy.... we have the potential of greatness, looking back, how often has that shown itself? Overall not nearly as much as it could have.

No it shouldn't, the slate should be wiped clean and whatever sick entity was responsible for it in the first place should get it right next time or don't bother!
