For me, the top favourite is always Hercules. I love the way he goes through his tasks not only with brawn, but also using his brain.
My least favourite was Hera, who was always behind people for no fault of theirs.
In Norse mythology my favourite is Thor.

Eris, the goddess of chaos and confusion. She caused the Trojan War, supposedly the first war among men. Of course, it was really the fault of Zeus. She was not invited to a party on Olympus. She did get even, though. Besides, Eris is still with us. Look around you and what do you see? Isn't our world mostly chaos and confusion?

Always liked Athena, for the wisdom aspect--as I got older, I really appreciated that Wisdom is often signified by a woman or feminine figure (Hagia Sophia, the Book of Wisdom in the Bible). And she took no nonsense--witness the spear she carried--but wasn't a bully like Ares.
Aphrodite was cool for a while, too, being able to manipulate almost everyone (tho I was sorry for her husband).

Apollo is associated principally with music, prophecy, sickness, and medicine. He is also known as Phoebus Apollo and is called the Far Shooter and the Pythian. (He has no separate Roman name.) His attributes in iconography are the cithara, or sometime the lyre, the bow, the fawn, and the tripod. He is often depicted with his sister, Artemis.
Athene (also spelled Athena) is the patron of wisdom, military victory, and women's crafts. She is also known as Tritogeneia and Minerva (Roman) and is also called Pallas Athene. Her attributes in iconography include the aegis (a fringed cloak, sometimes decorated with a Gorgon's head), the helmet, and the spear.

PROMETHEUS, who was Titan and stole the fire from Gods in order to give it to human. So Zeus was enraged and had Prometheus carried to Mount Caucasus, where an eagle Ethon would pick at his liver; it would grow back each day and the eagle would eat it again.
Its a great great story for me.
But if you ask specifically about God, than it's Hermes, a messenger of the Gods, an inventor of fire (so it's a paralel here with Prometheus). Hermes is also:
"god of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them, of shepherds and cowherds, of orators and wit, of literature and poets, of athletics, of weights and measures and invention and commerce in general, and of the cunning of thieves and liars"
Than also you have Hermaphroditus (son of Hermes and Aphrodite), and hermeneutics (theory of the interpretation and understanding of texts), philosophical dicipline that was named for this great god and his role of interpretor of messages
