Hmm since you're in the US Military you probably got that from a Military Base Exchange so do this. First check the actual unit, the manual, or the actual box and see what standard it follows (NTSC if it's made for America, PAL if it's made for UK).

If it's PAL then unfortunately the answer will be NO. So basically you have to buy UK games buddy :(.

Plus there's a thing called "Regions" it's been around for a long time now (DVDs, Games, Newer Media Formats such as Blue-Ray and HD DVD), basically a Region 1 player cannot play Region 2 and vice versa unless you hack the system (usually by changing the BIOS).

- Basic Region Rundowns -

Region 1 - USA, Canada
Region 2 - Middle East, Europe, etc.
Region 3 - South East Asia, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong
Region 4 - Mexico, South America, Australia
Region 5 - Russia etc.
Region 6 - China

Hi,

You will have to check. Generally NTSC games (which are the format for games the US uses) will not work on a UK system (which uses the PAL format). However, there are certain games which are region free, meaning the game will work on all xbox 360 consoles. I am absoutely sure in what i am saying. Not all xbox 360 games you purchase from the US will work on your UK console.

I suggest you do a little research before you purchase a xbox 360 game in the US.

Go to this website http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-4526-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en.html

It contains a list of the games for xbox 360 and tell you whether or not a game is region free or not.

You dont want to end up buying a game in the US and finding it is region restricted when you come back home!

Good luck and have a safe trip!

No - US games are NTSC and run at a different frame rate and are also locked out from play on a UK machine, British Xbox360 games are Pal and in tur won't work on a machine from another region.

In the past it has been possible to chip a machine or with certain companies buy a disk that will bypass the lock out, but I'm currently unaware if this exists for the 360.
