If there is a God, why did he create Man? Such an Omnipotent being, such power; what need does he have for Man-kind? Why would he create a Universe with no intention of interacting with it. Maybe I'm just blind. I mean I haven't read the Bible, I dont go to church. I'm not religious at all. But IF there is a God, why?

First off, you're assuming if there is a God that he/she/it is still alive after creating the universe. It's presumptuous to say deities don't follow the same cycle of life the rest of the universe does..

Second - How can you definitively say God is not interacting with us? If you want to believe any of the major three religions - God works in mysterious ways.

Third - You're assuming that just because we are self-aware creatures means that we are special and deserve to have a creator watch over us. Consciousness does not prove worth. In the grand scheme of things, we could be to God what ants are to us.

Fourth - You don't need a religion to realize that there is something more to existence and the universe than our own selfish perspective.

Fifth - What is many religion's obsession with making God a separate and distinct entity? Take Spinoza's argument: Under the current framework of the major three religions (Christianity, Islam and Judaism) the belief is that God is infinite and all powerful. By definition, to be infinite means that there can be nothing beyond/outside of said object. If there is nothing outside of what is infinite, everything must be within said object's existence. So, if God is infinite, we are all part of God. We are simply a part of the everything-ness that is the entity of God. Think of God as you and we are simply a single cell within within the body. (parallels with Brahman in Hinduism).

Sixth - if you want answers, you cant limit your search. Just because some ideas contradict western thinking and ideology, doesn't make them wrong. Even though it is pretty cliche' -- Think outside the box.

Lastly - Watch the Futurama episode called "God Fellas". It gives an interesting perspective on what God could be.

(p.s. as for the guy before me talking about intelligent design...it's a dumb idea. Not only does it contradict all logical thinking - considering 99% of all species that ever existed are now extinct - but just talk to any male over the age of 50 and ask how intelligently designed his urinary tract running through his prostate is)

Thousands of years and people still ask the same question, over and over again. People that have had a true experience with God say one thing, scientist demand proof, but most will look the other way when shown biblical facts. As far as intelligent design, it is the new catch phrase among the scientist who are not ready to admit God, but through their investigating have discovered new facts. Who says He is not interacting? Why do most woman want children? Would a loving God want someone to love and have them love Him back? There are facts, scientific facts, in the bible that are incredible. At last count only 23% of scientist still hold to the evolution theory of a single cell eventually becoming a human. Let us say there is no God, well then have fun, grow old gracefully, and then die happy. BUT what if there is, and you have not taken the time to look into "just what is going on with this God thing?" We read a book in which we cannot prove all the facts, such as a history of Alexander the great, but once we admit that he existed, as an historical fact, then we are amazed at his accomplishment. But wait, did he really live? If you could find someone who knows their bible, and has a true relationship with God (yes it happens), not some religious nut, your understanding will awaken. It is sad to see people dismiss an idea without truly investigating the facts, especially one this important. Biblical sientific fact??? in Joshua it says God stopped the sun for the most part of a day.... In 2nd Kings it says that God caused the sun to go back 10 degrees(that is 40 minutes) FACT.....NASA computers have found two segments of time missing.....(1) 23hrs and 20 minutes (2) 40 minutes---in this case the sun moved backwards. Now i dont know about you, but if there is a "being" who can stop the sun AND cause it to go backwards, I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HIM. Yes this is long, but then so is eternity.

You need to pursue some measure of clarification in terms of what God might be if he exists. I would recommend a book to you by the philosopher Mortimer Adler entitled "How to Think About God." It would probably be helpful to you. The book is not intended to engender belief, but to help discipline the mind in terms of thinking about questions of God's existence and essential nature. Classical Christian theology would assert that the world is created, not because there is in creation anything that God needs, but as an outpouring of God's glory and his love. This theology would further assert that God has revealed himself in creation itself, and through particular acts of revelation, which are described in the Bible-- the culimination of which is the revelation of what is called the Incarnation, in which God takes on a human nature and lives a real human life. As far as your last question "But if there is a God, why?" It is unclear to me what you are asking. Why what? Why does God exist? Classical Christian theology would assert that God is eternal and therefore the reason for his existence is discerned in the fact that God is what God is. Why does humanity exist? Classical Christian theology would assert that it is through a sheer and underserved act of grace, a gift, none are owed or deserve existence. As to to what purpose for human existence? Classical Christian theology would respond that the purpose of your existence is to share (friendship)communion with God. As far as what it means to be the friend of God, that is what the belief and practices of the spiritual and religious traditions of the world are concerned. Remember, I am not telling you what to believe, or that the ways of thinking that I have presented are the best answer, but I am simply providing insight as to how you might begin to look at clarifying the answers to the very important questions you have raised.

Well, probably waste of time! But as briefly as possible as taught by Bible
God had no need for anyone and was content to be by himself.
A time came when he decided, not out of need but OUT OF LOVE, that he wanted to give others the chance to enjoy life.

Thus he created the pre-human Jesus first. Through him all angels and the rest of the Universe was created along with men.

He intends to and does interact with it. If you are wondering why there is evil today, go to HP http://www.bythebible.page.tl/

Why do people have children? To express their love & have a family (hopefully). Why do artists create (because they have a need to express themselves & to bring beauty into the world.)

God created us because he loves us. He keeps a distance because this is not his world. His kingdom is Heaven & we only see it in the afterlife. In this world He leaves us alone to see how we do. This life is a sort of test to see who is worthy of Heaven. He gave us freewill to choose how to live our lives but He hopes that we make the right choices. If he intervened it would defeat the purpose of giving us freewill.

Don't worry about not being religious. If you weren't raised that way, if you weren't exposed to it then it's not your fault. If you live a good life & you're kind to people then God will still welcome you into Paradise.

Take care.
God bless.

The theory of evolution of the Coca Cola can.

Billions of years ago, a big bang produced a large rock. As the rock cooled, sweet brown liquid formed on its surface. As time passed, aluminum formed itself into a can, a lid, and a tab. Millions of years later, red and white paint fell from the sky, and formed itself into the words "Coca Cola 12 fluid ounces."

Of course, my theory is an insult to your intellect, because you know that if the Coca Cola can is made, there must be a maker. If it is designed, there must be a designer. The alternative, that it happened by chance or accident, is to move into an intellectual free zone.

The banana-the non-believer nightmare.
Note that the banana:
1. Is shaped for human hand
2. Has non-slip surface
3. Has outward indicators of inward content:
Green-too early, Yellow-just right, Black-too late.
4. Has a tab for removal of wrapper
5. Is perforated on wrapper
6. Bio-degradable wrapper
7. Is shaped for human mouth
8. Has a point at top for ease of entry
9. Is pleasing to taste buds
10. Is curved towards the face to make eating process
easy

To say that the banana happened by accident is even more unintelligent than to say that no one designed the Coca Cola can.

TEST ONE
The person who thinks the Coca Cola can had no designer is:
___ A. Intelligent
___ B. A fool
___ C. Has an ulterior motive for denying the obvious

Did you know that the eye has 40,000,000 nerve endings, the focusing muscles move an estimated 100,000 times a day, and the retina contains 137,000,000 light sensitive cells?

Charles Darwin said,
"To suppose that the eye...could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree."

If man cannot begin to make a human eye, how could anyone in his right mind think that eyes formed by mere chance? In fact, man cannot make anything from nothing. We don't know how to do it. We can re-create, reform, develop . . . but we cannot create even one grain of sand from nothing. Yet, the eye is only a small part of the most sophisticated part of creation-the human body.

George Gallup, the famous statistician, said,
"I could prove God statistically; take the human body alone; the chance that all the functions of the individual would just happen, is a statistical monstrosity."

Albert Einstein said,
"Everyone who is seriously interested in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe;a spirit vastly superior to man, and one in the face of which our modest powers must feel humble."

TEST TWO
A. Do you know of any building that didn't have a builder?
___ YES ___ NO
B. Do you know of any painting that didn't have a painter?
___ YES ___ NO
C. Do you know of any car that didn't have a maker?
___ YES ___ NO

TEST THREE
A. From the atom to the universe, is there order?
___ YES ___ NO
B. Did it happen by accident?
___ YES ___ NO
C. Or, must there have been an intelligent mind?
___ YES ___ NO
D. What are the chances of 50 oranges falling by chance

The declaration "There is no God" is what is known as an absolute statement. For an absolute statement to be true, I must have absolute knowledge.

Here is another absolute statement: "There is no gold in China."

TEST FOUR
What do I need to have for that statement to be true?

A. No knowledge of China.
___ YES ___ NO
B. Partial knowledge of China.
___ YES ___ NO
C. Absolute knowledge of China.
___ YES ___ NO

"C" is the correct answer. For the statement to be true, I must know that there is no gold in China, or the statement is incorrect. To say "There is no God," and to be correct in the statement, I must be omniscient.

I must know how many hairs are upon every head, every thought of every human heart, every detail of history, every atom within every rock...nothing is hidden from my eyes...I know the intimate details of the secret love-life of the fleas on the back of the black cat of Napolean's great-grandmother. To make the absolute statement "There is no God." I must have absolute knowledge that there isn't one.

Let's say that this circle represents all the knowledge in the entire universe, and let's assume that you have an incredible 1% of all that knowledge. Is it possible, that in the knowledge you haven't yet come across, there is ample evidence to proved that God does indeed exist?

If you are reasonable, you will have to say, "Having the limited knowledge that I have at present, I believe that there is no God." In other words, you don't know if God exists, so you are not an "atheist," you are what is commonly known as an "agnostic." You are like a man who looks at a building, and doesn't know if there was a builder.

TEST FIVE
The man who sees a building and doesn't know if there was a builder is:
___ A. Intelligent
___ B. A fool
___ C. Has an ulterior motive for denying the obvious

Perhaps you have questions that hold you back from faith. First, almost every question you have about suffering humanity etc., can be adequately answered.

Second, we have faith in plenty of things we don't understand. Did you understand the mechanics of television before you turned it on? Probably not. You took a step of faith, turned it on, and after it worked, understanding how it worked wasn't that important. We accept that there are unseen television waves right in front of our eyes. We can't see them because they are invisible. For them to manifest, we need a receiver, then we can enjoy the experience of television.

God is not flesh and blood. He is an eternal Spirit-immortal and invisible. Like the television waves, He cannot be experienced until the "receiver" is switched on. Here is something you will find hard to believe: Jesus said, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him" (John 14:21).
Either that is true or it isn't. Jesus Christ says that He will manifest Himself to anyone who obeys Him. Approach the subject the same way you approached your first television set. Just take a small step of faith.

Or have you an ulterior motive? Could it be that the "non-believer" can't find God, for the same reason a thief can't find a policeman? Could it be that your love for sin is clouding your good judgment? If the Bible is true, and Jesus Christ has "abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel," then you owe it to yourself just to check it out.

Darwin's full quote: "To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree." Darwin continues, "Yet reason tells me..."

Darwin goes on to explain in the Origin of Species that he believed he could justify the idea of the eye forming through natural selection by reason. Ask yourself if it is really reasonable for an eye with 40,000,000 nerve endings, focusing muscles that move an estimated 100,000 times a day, and a retina that contains 137,000,000 light sensitive cells to form without a designer. You decide…

Many years ago, I ran a children's club. At the end of the club I told about one hundred kids to line up for some candy. There was an immediate rush, and the line sorted of greed. The big and selfish kids were at the front, and the quiet sickly ones were at the back. I then did something that gave me great satisfaction. I told the kids to turn about face. Everyone did. Then I told them to stay where they were, and I took great delight in going to the other end of the line and giving the candy to the quiet, sickly kids first.

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness . . . For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent . . . But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound those who think they are wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence" (1 Corinthians 1:18,19,27-29).

Where's the Evidence?
Imagine that you are looking at a luxury liner moving through calm waters. To your amazement about a dozen people jump off the ship, and cling to a lifeboat. You watch as the rest of the passengers stand on the ship and laugh at them. You can understand their reaction. What those few people did was foolish. It made no sense.
Suddenly, the ship hits an unseen iceberg and sinks, taking with it all who stayed on board. Now you see that those who seemed like fools were wise, but those who stayed on the ship and seemed to be wise, were fools.
We have in the Bible a command to jump off the luxury liner of this world. Before you laugh at stupid Christians, ask yourself if there is any proof that its claims are true. Here is compelling evidence that the Bible is no ordinary book:

The Bible and Stars
Jeremiah 33:22 (written 2500 years ago): "As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured."

The Bible claimed that there are billions of stars ("host of heaven" is the biblical term for the stars). When it made this statement, no one knew how vast the numbers of stars were as only about 1,100 were observable. Now we know that there are billions of stars, and that they cannot be numbered.

TheEarth's Free-float in Space
Job 26:7 (written 3500 years ago): "He stretches out the north over the empty place, and hangs the earth upon nothing."

The Bible claimed that the earth freely floated in space. Science then thought that the earth sat on a large animal. We now know that the earth has a free float in space.
________________________________________
The Bible and Atoms
Hebrews 11:3 (written 2000 years ago): "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

The Bible claims that all creation is made of invisible material. Science then was ignorant of the subject. We now know that the entire creation is made of invisible elements called "atoms."

Blood is the source of Life
Leviticus 17:11 (written 3000 years ago): "For the life of the flesh is in the blood."

The Scriptures declare that blood is the source of life. Up until 120 years ago, sick people were "bled", and many died because of the practice. We now know that blood is the source of life. If you lose your blood, you will lose your life.

The Bible and Dealing with Disease
Leviticus 15:13 (written 3000 years ago): "And when he that has an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean."

The Bible said that when dealing with disease, hands should be washed under running water. Up until 100 years ago doctors washed their hands in a basin of still water, resulting in the death of multitudes. We now know that doctors must wash their hands under running water. The Encyclopedia Britannica documents that in 1845, a young doctor in Vienna named Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis was horrified at the terrible death rate of women who were dying after giving birth in hospitals. As many as 30% of those giving birth died. The Doctor noted that doctors would examine the bodies of those who had died, then, without washing their hands, go straight to the next wards and examine expectant mothers. This was their normal practice, because the presence of microscopic diseases was unknown. Doctor Semmelweis insisted that doctors wash their hands before examinations, and the death rate immediately dropped down to 2%.

The Bible and Radio Waves
Job 38:35 (written 3,500 years ago. God Himself speaking): "Can you send lightnings, that they may go and say unto you, Here we are?"

The Bible here is saying a scientifically ludicrous statement -- that light can be sent, and then manifest itself in speech. But did you know that radio waves move at the speed of light? This is why you can have instantaneous wireless communication with someone on the other side of the earth. Science didn' t discover this until 1864 when "the British scientist James Clerk Maxwell suggested that electricity and light waves were two forms of the same thing" ( Modern Century Illustrated Encyclopedia, Vol. 12).

The Bible Reveals the Earth is Round
Isaiah 40:22 (written 2800 years ago): "It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth."

The Bible informs us here that the earth is round. At a time when science believed that the earth was flat, it was the Scriptures that inspired Christopher Columbus to sail around the world. He wrote: "It was the Lord who put it into my mind. I could feel His hand upon me . . . there is no question the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit because He comforted me with rays of marvelous illumination from the Holy Scriptures . . ." (From his diary, in reference to his discovery of "the New World").

The Bible and Light
Job 38:19 (written 3500 years ago). "Where is the way where light dwells?"

Modern man has only just discovered that light (electromagnetic radiation) has a "way," involving motion traveling at 186,000 miles per second.

Time, Space, Matter, Power, and Motion
Genesis 1:1,3 (written 3,450 years ago): "In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth . . . And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."

Science expresses the universe in five terms: time, space, matter, power and motion. "In the beginning (time) God created (power) the Heaven (space) and the earth (matter) . . . And the Spirit of God moved (motion) upon the face of the waters."

The Bible and Dinosaurs
Why did the dinosaur disappear? This is something that has modern science mystified, but the Bible may have the answer (written 3500 years ago. God Himself is speaking):

"Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eats grass as an ox. Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. He moves his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. He lies under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. Behold, he drinks up a river, and hastens not: he trusts that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. He takes it with his eyes: his nose pierces through snares. (Job 40:15-24).
•This was the Largest of all creatures He made.
•It was plant-eating (herbivorous).
•It had its strength in its hips.
•Its tail was like a large tree (a cedar).
•It had very strong bones.
•Its habitat was among the trees.
•Drank massive amounts of water.
•His nose pierced through snares.
•Then Scripture says, " . . . He that made him can make his sword approach to him." In other words, God caused this, the largest of all the creatures He had made, to become extinct.

The Bible and the Science of Oceanography
Psalm 8:8: "And the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas."

What does the Bible mean by "paths" of the seas? The sea is just a huge mass of water, how then could it have "paths?" Man discovered the existence of ocean currents in the 1850's, but the Bible declared the science of oceanography 2,800 years ago. Matthew Maury (1806- 1873) is considered to be the father of oceanography. He was bedridden during a serious illness and asked his son to read a portion of the Bible to him. While listening, he noticed the expression "paths of the sea." Upon his recovery, Maury took God at His word and went looking for these paths. His book on oceanography is still considered a basic text on the subject and is still used in universities.

Mountains in the Ocean
Jonah 2:6 (written 2,800 years ago): "I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet have you brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God."

When Jonah was in the depths of the ocean, he spoke of going down to the "bottoms of the mountains." Only in recent years has man discovered that there are mountains on the ocean floor. The greatest ocean depth has been sounded in the Challenger Deep of the Mariana's Trench, a distance of 35,798 feet below sea level. Mount Everest is 29,035 feet high.
________________________________________
The Water Cycle
Amos 9:6 (written 2,800 years ago): "He . . . calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out upon the face of the earth; the Lord is His name."

The Mississippi River dumps over six million gallons of water per second into the Gulf of Mexico. Where does all that water go? That's just one of thousands of rivers. The answer lies in the hydrologic cycle, something that was not fully accepted until the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, 2500 years after the Bible said that God takes the waters of the sea, and pours them upon the face of the earth.
________________________________________
The Earth's Rotation
Job 38:12, 14, (written 3500 years ago) God Himself says: "Have you commanded the morning since your days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? It [the earth] is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment."

Modern science has come to understand that the earth's rotation on its axis is responsible for the sun's rising and setting. The picture here is of a vessel of clay being turned or rotated upon the potter's wheel -- an accurate analogy of the earth's rotation.

The Sun's Movement
Psalm 19:4-6: "In them has He set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race. His [the sun's] going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof."

Bible critics have scoffed at these verses, saying that they teach that the sun revolves around the earth. Science told them that the sun was stationary. Then they discovered that the sun is in fact moving through space at approximately 600,000 miles per hour. It is traveling through the heavens and has a "circuit" just as the Bible says. It is estimated that its circuit is so large, it would take 200 million years to complete one orbit.

The Treasure of the Snow
Job 38:22 (written 3,500 years ago). God says: "Have you entered into the treasures of the snow?"

It wasn't until the advent of the microscope that man discovered that each and every single snowflake is uniquely a symmetrical "treasure."

The Bible and the First Law of Thermodynamics
Genesis 2:1 (after creation): "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them."

The Hebrew word used here is the past definite tense for the verb "finished," indicating an action completed in the past, never again to occur. The creation was "finished" -- once and for all. That is what the First Law of Thermodynamics says. It states that neither matter nor energy can be either created or destroyed. There is no "creation" ongoing today. It is "finished" exactly as the Bible states.
________________________________________
The Bible and Entropy
Hebrews 1:10,11 (written 2000 years ago): ". . . And, You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands: They shall perish; but you remain; and they all shall wax old as does a garment."

The Bible tells us that the earth is wearing out. This is what the Second Law of Thermodynamics states. This wasn't discovered by science until comparatively recently.

The Bible and the Immune System
Genesis 17:12: "And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed."

Why was circumcision to be carried out on the eighth day? Medical science has discovered that the eighth day is the only day in the entire life of the newborn that the blood clotting element prothrombin is above 100%. Medical science has also discovered that this is when the human body's immune system is at its peak.
________________________________________
The Seed of Life
Genesis 3:15: "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

This verse reveals that a female possesses the "seed of life." This was not the common knowledge until a few centuries ago. It was widely believed that the male only possessed the "seed of life" and that the woman was nothing more than a glorified incubator.

Just the Right Amount of Water
Isaiah 40:12 (written 2,800 years ago): "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand . . ."

We are told that God has measured the waters and set a proper amount of water on the earth. Modern science has proved that the quantity of water on earth is just enough for our needs. If the sea became three meters deeper, the water would absorb all the carbon dioxide and nitrogen, and no creature could live any longer.

The Empty North
Job 26:7 (written 3500 years ago): "He stretches out the north over the empty place . . ."

Less than 200 years ago, through the advent of massive telescopes, science learned about the great empty space in the north.
________________________________________
The Stretching Heavens
