In my experience, it doesn't matter if you're good, bad or indifferent - you get it anyway. It's a matter of what you take away from it (lessons learned, strength gained, etc.) not whether you get it. Though if it's any consolation, I think the bad guy is bound to trap himself with his own ignorance.

most of the time, just mabye not in the course of the "story". Might be in a next one.
Maybe he learned his mistakes and becomes the good guy. Far better than everyone he did harm too. He may have needed that evil to do the good he has done.
