I was nine and fascinated with sharks, so my dad brought me to see Jaws. I didn't sleep that night, nor alot of nights after and I still get spooked today when I hear that theme music. Great movie!

As a little girl, the winged monkeys in Wizard of Oz terrified me, enough for nightmares. As a teenager: Wait Until Dark with Audrey Hepburn 1967 started me not liking scarier movies, but In Cold Blood (also 1967) and Helter Skelter (1970 and 1976) and the Exorcist (1973) truly finished the job. Now my friends have to actually see a movie and give me a scare rating for quite a few movies these days. And I rule out many just by the title or the TV trailers!

You probably won't believe this but Jaws haunted me for years when I first saw it; I was scared to get back in the water, even a lake, for a long long time after watching it.
Death On The Nile (Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot) also made quite a lasting yet negative impression on me as a child; especially the scene when the rich heiress receives a fatal bullet in the head.
I have been addicted to scary or horror movies ever since!
Hope this answers your question to your satisfaction!
Take it easy buddy!
P.S. Which movie(s) scared YOU as a kid, I wonder?

I came downstairs one night when I was a kid and caught a glimpse of a film my dad was watching. I can't remember the name of it but it was a scary fim and the clip I saw was a clown in a washing line that was spinning around. (???) sounds funny but it wasn't!! Even now some 20 years later I see a washing line like that and still think of that blimmin' clown!!!
Just read some of the other answers and it was "IT"! (shudders)...

Hellraiser ! All those little hooks and chains flying out of that little puzzle box and ripping that guy apart. I never played with a rubix cube again, and I just knew Pinhead or chatters was going to show up somewhere in my house. I was tiny though, but I still never have picked up a rubix cube again.

Probably for me was Carrie (a werid movie yet scary if you know what I mean). It was freaky with all of the killing and the death. You don't get that a lot from other movies..maybe Saw or Final Destination. (okay..Saw 1 was scary..Saw 2..>_< give me a break..and Saw 3..was scary but not really..idk...all of the Final Destination...O_O 1 was scary..2 and 3..kind of.)
