I walked into one of those bargain shops the other day where everything is under $2. I was kind of shocked to see an item called "Rat Paper", it was cardboard covered in sticky glue, and was obviously 'made in china'. Anybody seen or used this stuff?? Kind of a horrible way of catching rats

They are really gross! A horrible way to get rid of rodents....there must be a nicer way! (My friend used some of that to get rid of mice in her new apartment, and she had a funny story......she came home from work to this horrible noise and it was a mouse stuck to the glue paper. It was squealing and had tried to chew it's feet off (which is really sad)...so anyway, she bent down to pick up the paper to get rid of it...not sure how....but as she bent down the glue paper got stuck to her long hair, so she had this squealing mouse trapped in her hair, and that glue is pretty sticky! She completely freaked out and went running out into her hallway, and banged on her nearest neighbor's door.....(she hadn't even met her new neighbors yet), and of course it was a hot guy.....and she went running into his apartment with the mouse still chewing it's feet and squealing...and this poor guy ended up having to cut half her hair off with kitchen scissors!

Moral of the story: Don't use this stuff!!!!! ;-)

Yes it is really a horrible and cruel way to get rid of rats and yes Rat Papers are almost similar to those fly papers.

I live in Asia and we have many of those Rat Papers imported from China (and made locally, like Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam). Asians use these as alternatives to rat traps (cages) because getting rid of rats with these Rat Papers are more effective (they say).

You have Rat Papers, Roach Papers and Fly Papers in Asia. The Rat Paper was originally used/created for catching squirrels and birds (they used this on trees).

I would not want to pick up a T'd off rat glued to a piece of paper---I used to use norwal rat cakes, I used a roofing nail and nailed them to a long stick, rat sickles and then cut back the rat population. If it is not hooked down they carry it around and make a nest out of it. Tried the sticky things once for mice, once was enough.

Yes, I've seen the product for mice. It IS HORRIBLE. Basically, you are supposed to just "toss out" the rat or mouse that is stuck to the paper, and who knows how long it will take it to die.

I always thought that poison like D-Con was the more conscientious choice, but this summer I learned otherwise.

After putting it out in our cabin because tenants kept complaining about the mice, (which didn't ever bother me--you're in the middle of the woods, there are going to be mice, DUH!) I came into the cabin one weekend only to find one of the poor mice victims writhing and rolling around on the floor, as it was slowly being poisoned. I have no idea how long this poison takes to kill them, but I would bet if most people had to witness a cute little mouse die slowly like this, they would switch to live traps instead!
