The way it's being presented, it's a sideshow. Always has been, always will. The only ones that can transcend this are ones who have wrestled other established female wrestlers. I have respect for Mildred Burke because of the impact she had on wrestling not only in America, but in Japan. She did it by wrestling her peers, not in the carnivals wrestling bums off the street where she started. However, I have no respect for those private "wrestlers" who handpick their opponents from the legions of bald/fat/skinny/old/physically weak who have to pay a woman money because that's the only way they'll get any action.

Plus mixed wrestling now carries the connotation of pornography because of glorified dominatrices who picked up a few moves in their martial arts class, but still get naked and use facesitting and leg scissors prominently in their "matches" because it will sell more overpriced tapes. If you have watched any professional wrestling whatsoever, you'd know that mixed matches do not work because nobody goes over and both wrestlers' credibility is shot down the drain afterwards, lowering their worth. It is rare to find an example that does work, and even then their popularity is so high that they can get away with it because the hit wouldn't be enough to affect their status on the card.

It's 2007 and I still laugh at guys who get their asses kicked by girls. No matter what year it is, it's still funny. To try to portray it as a legitimate sport would be literally laughable.

Question: Do you weigh under 140 pounds?

With the exception of high school and college wrestling, any form of wrestling should not be taken seriously as a sport, as it is all fake. I have been to live events and see the fake taps, and take downs. It is worse than a B rated movie. I once saw a guy get hit near the knee and then immediately grab his head and fall to the mat....Come on! I will not waste my time or money on any of that stuff.

Okay, first of all let me make it clear, that I speak from experience I have been into this "SPORT" for almost 35 years. My wife and I have wrestled more than 25 years in "mixed wrestling". I have done it with her and others and it was ALWAYS REAL and because of adjusted rules, the ladies sometimes won and win. For the sake of ROCKMUM LOVES BOWIE and LION, let me clarify. Mixed wrestling is defined traditionally as male vs. female wrestling and is as diverse in types and rules as ALL professional and collegiate wrestling combined, as it has (at last count) OVER 100 "SPECIAL" moves, attacks, holds, defenses and rules that are different from professional or collegiate wrestling.

Originally, it was a much"softer" sport. In some places, it WAS pure "pornography". Whether REAL or not, almost everyone used labels similar to the one we started which was "Mixed Erotic Combat" or "Erotic Mixed Combat".

In general, the REAL deal is now a MUCH more aggressive and VIOLENT SPORT most would call a blend of light MMA and Dirty Tactic Mixed Wrestling.

While razorback is correct that the "retail" market has been flooded by fake wrestling dominatrices and that the over-use of face-sitting and groin to face leg scissors has ruined it for those who are trying to keep it REAL, there are those of US that ARE TRYING DESPERATELY HARD to keep it REAL.

Originally, thirty-three years ago we simply referred to it as "dirty tactic" Mixed Wrestling. Because, standard "mixed wrestling" with "standard" rules, was and is boring because it ALWAYS favors the man and there is just almost NO WAY for a woman to pull off a win. Twenty-twenty-five years ago, we were able to put enough people together and it had become so popular that matches went on at "Private Underground Competitions" not too unlike, "Dog Pit Fighting" or "Dirty Pit Wrestling". Hence why one website actually re-arranged that words to name their site (dirtywrestlingpit) exploiting the style originally also. But, then they, like all of the others, bowed to the all-mighty dollar. Turning their matches, as well, into nothing more than what razorback calls pornography videos (in general). It is a shame, too. They were on the right track in the beginning, to help those of US who are working hard to promote a SERIOUS sport.

Out of frustration with the corruption\ruination of the "purity" of "The Sport" my wife and I spoke to many involved in the REAL thing and my wife (MxdCybrFiter) suggested it be renamed WvH (Wife Vs Husband). Fights recently. This was an easy name as the majority of folks competing in the REAL mixed matches for prizes or the "right" to say they are the "best" are couples; married or otherwise. Its popularity, competitiveness, and quality of matches has GREATLY increased in the last five years. We attribute this to SO many women taking and competing in MMA and their Husband's thinking they would make good sparring partners for their wives (many times to their own embarrassment).

When you throw "clean fighting" out the window, MANY, MANY women can give their Husband's and OTHER women's Husband's a run for their money, literally!

Have fun!
