It's cool that you are able to participate in this forum. There seem to be a large blind community and good organizations for blind people in the San Francisco Bay area. It's actually a pretty cool place to live if you can see, as well.

im not from the us .but im sure there are plenty of places that care for the blind.or if the person lives at home,plenty of homecare facilities.my mother 81 is blind still does her own cooking and cleaning,gets a cleaner to do showers once a fortnight to pass her time she reads braille novel and does reasonably easy jigsaw puzzles

...I can't imagine that "one-place" is any better then "another" if the person has a "support system" in place... perhaps in a warmer climet, Georgia, Florida...etc. so as to not have to deal with snow and weather problems... but having a good support system... absolutely necessary...
