I feel most comfortable with a competent doctor. I don't care what genitals they themselves have, so long as they know what they are doing and have a good manner.

I have a female OB/GYN. I feel more comfortable with her when it comes to listening to my concerns and needs when it comes to my very complicated gyn issues. When I first started down the journey with chronic pain especially from the female aspect it was a female dr (not the one I have now but another one at the time) that helped me get in to surgery to have a laparoscopy. It turned out I had endometriosis.

All the other laparoscopies I've had done over the past several years have been also been done by a female gyn (the one I have had now for almost 10 years).

I know some women are more comfortable with a male dr because they feel that the male drs do a better job of listening (have seen this mentioned on some of the groups thru Yahoo that I'm on) but when it comes to male drs I have problems getting them to listen. So I find I get better results with a female gyn.

I used to feel more comfortable with a female doctor I just thought that if anyone should look at me down there they should at least know how it is to have the female body parts.
until i had my daughter cause i had no other choice...the ob/gyn was a male so now it dont really matter to me.
i guess i found out there was no difference as long as they know what they are doing.
:)

I use to prefer a female ob/gyn, but now it doesn't bother me. Sometimes I think a male ob/gyn knows more about what he's doing and I find them to be more gentle. I just want them to know what they're doing.

I prefer female Dr's. because they understand what you are going through as far as cramps/irregularities/pregnancy etc. and also if you have a male Dr. , there will need to be a female assistant in the room with him. As far as I am concerned the less people that get to see my goodies the better. It is a personal preference- just make sure you feel comfortable.

Funnily enough, male.
I have never had a female doctor etc that I have liked. I dont like being in the company of women who I feel look down on me/patronise me for whatever reason & most female ones I have ever been to I have felt have been this way.
