Beauty ,like love, is in the eye and heart of the looker. Beauty comes in so many forms, it is mostly some thiing near and dear to you and has a particular interest to you. What you consider beauty may not be beauty to someone else. Like what you like ,love what/who you love.

There is what can be described a universal beauty - in which we generally agree the object is beautiful. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. But there is also beauty that very moment the beholder realizes/admires the beauty of an object.

Something is beautiful when its essence posseses and displays the integrity, proportionality, and clarity it is supposed to have. How beauty is perceived is considered in terms of our subjective experience (what pleases me) and an objective experience (qualities that all can perceive and appreciate). As for beauty itself, it is one the the three great transcendentals (truth, goodness and beauty) of classical philosophy and has been traditionally considered by many philosophers and theologians to be an attribute of God. For more insight-- read Plato's "Symposium".

If you are referring to the beautiful I enjoy Kants ideas:
It is Kants belief that in order for something to be deemed beautiful one must appreciate that something independent of any selfish reasons.
That is to say.......A cheeseburger is not beautiful because you like the taste , it can only be beautiful if you believe that regardless of your gratification upon eating the burger, you must truly appreciate that it exists.
And most often we do not deem things beautiful for what they truly are, but based on our reaction. That is to say..... If you appreciate a piece of art because you like the way it makes you feel, it is not beauty..it is gratification.
Only when you appreciate the piece of art independent of your gratifications can it be deemed beautiful.

Summary: It is beautiful when you truly appreciate the fact that "it" exists and not placing your judgment on how it makes you feel or how it benefits you, because that would be mere gratification (The lowest form of pleasure known to humans)
