Why Does SEX Sell So Much?

Question

We're all human beings,
back in the day,people thought about intercourse as a way of creating a new life.

Well,that was waaaaaaay back,now it's all about the SEX,
I have to admit that I am one of the people who buy into it as well.
Why is it so that the society just becomes more and more about the appearence/physical?
What's the defenition behind the hype?
It's all about your status and if you're a sex symbol or not.
I know that men are very visual and women are very emotional....,but still????

Sex sells more than any other business:

-FASHION,
CARS,MOTORCYCLES,
-MEDIA, (think about all the beer commercials during Superbowl etc.)

-ENTERTAINMENT,
-MUSIC BUSINESS,
GENTLEMEN'S CLUB'S,SPA'S ETC.

ONE EXAMPLE,I BET THAT I WILL RECEIVE WAY MORE ANSWERS ON THIS QUESTION THAN ANY OF THE OTHER ONES THAT I HAVE ASKED,JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE STOPS UP AND PAYS ATTENTION TO SEX........ WAS I WRONG???

AS THE MATHER OF FACT,DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO SPEAK ANY OF THE LANGUAGES/DIALECTS.
I LOVE AND RESPECT INDIANS,BUT YOU MAKE A FOOL OUTTA YOURSELF WHEN YOU ASSUME STUFF!!!!

I am trying to be serious but I just keep imaging an Indian accent woman (Apu's wife on simpsons) speaking (or asking the question in that accent while trying be serious) while I was reading the question and I can't stop laughing.

Because SEX sells,it always has and it always will.It is also the oldest profession in the book.Yes I will usually answer or look at a question with the word sex in it.I kind of like it or it turns me on more then say motor-cycles or media.Gee sex or the weather what is more stimulating for my mind,I can look outside and see what kind of day it is.Drugs is another topic I will take a look at,addiction always and gambling.So now you know that I myself am an addict,in recovery,I still gamble quite a bit,but put it down in front of me,and if I like it I'm gonna do it til its gone,broken,or I drop from exhaustion....It's pretty amazing and its also not to unusual or uncommon.

Men watch a lot more TV than women. If that is not the case with you, then the woman watches the same show and will not flip the channel like a guy will. Those ads are just catchy because I notice my husband will stop at those scenes and look at it. You are appealing to male audiences.

What those advertisers might not know is that women make up the other half of the population and so trying to include them in on their Jessica Simpson hamburger ad might do their business some good.

I personally won't eat at Carl's Junior, just because of their marketing scheme......go boys club, go....lol, you lost my vote and business.......

You've already said it. We're human beings. That's why sex sells. We are self-replicating organisms and our genes have found wonderful ways to get our species to perpetuate itself.

In our society, I'd argue that sex sells because mass media is often visual and sexuality is perhaps the easiest and most instinctive thing one can do to grab attention. It's easier to notice a billboard if it's plastered with a runway model. Usually these advertisements are designed to appeal to men, but if you check out any woman's magazine (Oprah, Shape) you will see that these triggers are common for both sexes.

In the old days people felt the same but felt afraid to express it the way we do now. I think the more religion breaks down, the more the true nature of human beings is going to come out and play. Sex sells, because it is a very strong and very natural drive. For any creature on this planet.
