I've been wondering about this for a while, it seems to me that Blake is positioned very much like Daughtry was last year.

Now I'm a hard rock fan and very much loved Daughtry's song choices, recognizing he was a superstar right away. I don't like Blake's particular musical niche really, so it's harder for me to judge.

But one thing Daughtry had going for him was he was unique, and he identified himself strongly with a genre of music not common on American Idol. He knew who he was and never compromised (and now even though he lost is breaking records with his album sales as a result).

Blake might be in a different genre, but also seems very unique to me, likeable too (not as likeable as truly nice-guy family man Daughtry but still very likeable). I don't think he'll win Idol (I don't like R&B/Soul but I recognize Melinda Doolittle has an amazing voice and is truly likeable), but Blake might be selling more albums than the winner (just like Daughtry is now).

Any thoughts?

Couldn't agree more in the fact that he is unique. But I don't know if he's unique to the point that he will sell a lot of albums. Daughtry was unique to the style of American Idol, in that he was a rocker, which Idol had never had, I agree. Where Blake brings, I feel, a difference, in the style of music, and that he beat boxes, I don't think that that will translate into album sales. Unique to Idol, yes, so he'll generate buzz for that on the show. But I don't know that this is the kind of unique that translates to album sales, the way that Daughtry's did. Daughtry's rock style is very much accepted in mainstream today. I don't know that Blake's style is. Just my opinion.

i in my opinion form of agree yet i disagree besides. jordin i think of is relatively convalescing and via prevailing american idol she'll have the prospect to tutor off how great she would be in a position to be. i think of she's already there, she's purely no longer showing it off in her songs. she relatively released an self reliant album someplace while she grow to be around 13 or 14. she additionally won usa's maximum gifted little ones. and because she's so youthful, she has the flair to be even better, i advise come on, she's 17! blake relatively would not have lots of a voice yet he's relatively like different stars. they don't have the suitable voices yet they have a great form of originality. via being favorite via extra of the extra youthful little ones, he will in all probability be very effective. yet sure, american idol is relatively lacking great skills this year... it particularly is form of odd by using fact all of them had some form of expierience with singing and there isn't any longer lots skills at the same time as different years winners did no longer have any expierience yet they have been staggering!

No comparisson. Blake is somehow diferent for the group, but his music (or at least, his music taste) is boring. Every song he chooses is boring. Love Song is a great song, in any version (Cure or 311) but with him was boring. Idem with his other options. He has nt a good voice, he is not a CD saler and I don´t see him as an AI. As a matter of fact, Sanjaya can be more an AI than him.

I agree that Blake is uniques and I also think he would sell a lot of records. The thing Blake has going is that he appeals to the younger audience and has the American Idol image. You can watch his performances here:

I personally liked the "All Mixed Up" performance the best.
