He is gay because when he sees other men he is sexually excited, just as you are when you see a member of the opposite sex. It is normal and is part of like genetic makeup or something and he cant help itor change anymore than you can change being str8 (unless he lied to himself of course!)
PS. I agree with one poster above - being gay doesnt makeone a tranny - totally seperate things and if he wanted to be a woman that wouldnt necassarily mean he wanted men either he could be str8 or gay as a tranny I think its totally different like.

He was born that way. Tell him to accept it, because denial will just hurt more people later in life.
