Generally speaking, I don't think ANY voters are intellectually mature enough. This includes US voters. Popularity will always prevail since the majority of voters everywhere are morons. I am not speaking of everyone, just the majority - but that is what counts, right?

Popularity is often the basis for Filipinos to vote for a candidate paving the way for actors and basketball players to be elected as President, Senators and other positions. Competent candidates are often disregarded when a popular candidate is the rival. Sincerity and performance of the candidate must be the primary criteria to be voted for public governnance.

A couple of good answers here. I tend to side with the lady who asked if there could possibly exist a more condescending question---but it is human nature to be condescending, and, unfortunately, racist. But I also agree with the respondant who said that no voters, anywhere, are horribly mature.

I did a research paper years ago on identical twins who'd been seperated at birth and raised seperately and the thing that sticks with me is the two men who did not vote because they felt themselves to be insufficiently informed on the issues. That's humility.

that humility is rare. none of wants to believe himself to be average, or below average. sooooo---we are a race of know-it-alls---except that, uh, we, like, don't. we so don't know it all.

so, no the filipino voters aren't all that mature, and neither are american voters----look at the corruption and inefficiency of our own government. Half of us are below average, and few of us want to/can admit it. welcome to the human race.

All we know is what we believe---and what we believe is often mistaken.
