I can't think straight about this anymore! We are ttc although I am 46 and already have 3 older children. I feel quite fertile though and my periods still come every month - between 26-28 days. We made love at my guessed ovulation time and I had last period on 21st Feb. I am now one week late and have had 4 negative pregnancy tests.
BUT I have painful and tender breasts and really tender hips (they feel bruised) which I have never had before. Also, vivid dreams, some nausea, white creamy discharge and very tired. Can't think what else the symptoms could be??? any suggestions, am starting to get worried it must be something less pleasant than a hoped-for pregnancy. surely the tests should show positive by now - they are all the early type that show 4 days before period.

I actually feel a bit foolish going to the doctors because of my age and wishing to be pregnant when most doctors believe fertility is close to nil then.

I telephoned my doctors to ask generally re. pregancy testing. they told me they don't do blood tests only urine tests and that they are the same as the hpts you buy!!! so if I go - they are going to get the same result at this stage!

One time I took a pregnancy test too early even tho my period was due. I got pregnant just a couple days before it was due...there is no set rule that you have to be pregnant during the middle of your cycle..anyway, point being,I was infact pregnant, but the hormone hadn't built up enough in my body. I took the test about 5 days after my pd was due and got a faint positive. don't give up hope. You sound like you make a good mom and I think it's great that you want another one.
One also thing to remember is that pregnancy symptoms are often very similar to PMS symptoms. Like tender breasts, cramping, fatigue. These can be the same for both pregnancy as well as the onset of a period coming.
Hope it turns out the way you want it too!! Best wishes to you all!

I would go to your doctor. Even if they don't do a blood test, maybe they could give you an exam? I've heard of some women being as far as 6 months pregnant and still getting negative results! How weird. I'm kinda in the same boat and wondering if I should go to the doctor. I'm late also, only a day or two, but took a test and it came out positive. I can't ever just take one test as my answer, so I took 4 more. They all came out negative. So, now what?! I'm considering calling my doctor Monday if I don't start my period first. Good luck either way!

Two things....
1.) You could be wishing your body to react pregnant. Due to the stress of you wanting to be pregnant so bad.
2.) The home test are not always as great as the blood ones the doctors take.
If nothing happens in a week I suggest calling the doctors and get an appointment ( heck, may an apointment anyway) Because if your not pregnant you could be having other problems and better to be safe than sorry...
(fingers are cross that you are and the test were duds)

Do you read the bible? There is a couple named Sarah and Abraham...of course you can still get pregnant! Why do people forget that God is in control? Don't be embarassed to go to the doctor and wanting to have more children. They are a gift from God and it is no one's business if God wants to bless you with another child. You just tell them you are putting it in HIS hands. As far as being pg right now, of course it is possible you already are. Don't put too much faith in those HPTs, it all depends on each individual woman's body and how fast it begins producing HCG. I just said a prayer for you that God's will may be done in this matter.

I think you should stop wasting money and wait a month, and when that one month has passed, take another pregnancy test, and if it says positive, then ta-da! If negative, then you're not really pregnant.
I wish you success in conceiving and being pregnant.

Kill two birds with one stone...Make an appointment with your doctor ASAP
If you are pregnant, they should be able to pick it up...
If not, they should be able to determine what could be the cause of these pregnancy-like symptoms.
Hope it's the former...
Good Luck
