I need to manage my computers remotely much like the windows xp remote assistant feature "take control". Is there a way to do this? I will need to restart my computer from a remote location and still be able to "take charge" once it restarts.

you can use Remote desktop connection that doesnt use the asstant feature . start | run |type in mstsc and hit enter.

for remote shutdown you can use just pstools from winternals.com or my favorite from the resource kit shutgui.exe

realvnc for remoting into computers too.
