I've known a few mildly retarded people in my life and found them to be remarkably like "normal" people. They think about the things that interest them: music, movies, tv shows, friends, guys, girls, clothes, leisure activities, hobbies, you name it, but on a less mature level than most people their own age.
As to the talking, some talk slower than others, some mildly retarded people it's very difficult to tell that there's anything "wrong" with them, particularly based on speech patterns.

They think just like everyone else, but u have to rewind back their age to about 5 years from their current age for mildly retarded people.
They talk slow bcs they are not confident, they have complex issues....they are normally naive people...
I have a friend, his name is George, he is mildly retarded. We have been friends since we were kids....But George is no naive person, though mildly retarded i actually think he is smarter than us all....many times he raised questions which we never thought abt, good questions....he recently got married to a beautiful doctor, i dont know how did he get such a beautiful, hot and kind doctor but they are happy, i wish them all the best of luck....i guess his lucky scooby doo shirt did the trick afterall....

generally no. They may need to think about what they want to say, but for the most part not really. They think like everybody else, they just don't think as deep... more childlike.
Just think about a normal 8 year old, that is about what it is like for communication.
