Is it time to move to sensor this madman? He has no respect for the fact that the American public is against his stay the course policy. He should never have been given the authority to usurp the War Powers Act to begin with, but we must do something before he gets us into another war with Iran, and kills more of our Children!!!!!!!

Do not blame Bush. He needs to veto because
the way to end a war is to WIN it. Unfortunately, too many members of Congress only care about winning their next election. Perhaps if they put as much effort into winning the war as they do winning their seats, we could end this quickly and be done with it.

The fact of the matter is that he and the rest of the House voted on a bill that is loaded with pork. The bill provides money for a lot of things that have nothing to do with the war. There are lots of presents for friends of Congress. This is immoral and unethical and does nothing to help the troops. The bill, because of the time lines and pork, will surely be vetoed by the President. That means the whole process will have to start over and these so called leaders will have to provide money for the troops or risk feeling the wrath of constituents

This funding was critical to the safety and security of our troops and I would find it unconscionable to vote against this funding.

it is unconscionable to vote against funding but it is perfectly OK (and therefore conscionable) to vote in favor of time lines and PORK! Have you no sense of right and wrong? It is wrong to load a bill for military funding with pork and time lines. Perhaps it is because they wanted to shout from the mountain tops that Bush does not support the troops. When the bill is vetoed the members of the House will trumpet the fact that Bush vetoed funding and they will ignore the fact that he vetoed the bill because of the pork and the time lines. The line item veto never looked so good as it does right now. It is my hope that the President will make a big deal out of the veto and explain to America that he could not sign a bill that ties his and our troops’ hands and is laden with non-war related pork.
We must win this war no matter what it takes. We must send a clear message to our enemies and our potential enemies that we will fight when needed and we will stay until the job is done. Don’t be fooled by the results of the last election because Americans did not change direction to end the war. Americans want our troops to come home, that is a given but they want to bring them home as a result of a win. By voting to cut and run you have demonstrated that you are not willing to give the troops what they need to win, despite your claims to the contrary.

Looks like the democratic process in action. The constitution provides for presidential veto as a balance to the power of congress. If they can muster a 2/3 majority they can override the veto. If it is the people's will then the required votes should come easily. As it seems so, this issue greatly divides our nation and in that aspect his power of veto is legitimate and his to use. It is not a perfect system but it is OUR system. You can't change the rules 1/2 way through the game because you don't like your losing. So look for another solution if a pullout is not the answer.

Thank goodness for veto power. You cannot put a timetable for the withdrawal of troops. We made a commitment when we went into Iraq and we have a responsibility to fulfill before we pull the troops out. We should put "BS" sensors on some of the Democrats and the POTUS should not be censured.

Then run for Congress or shut the hell up. A 50-48 vote strictly down party lines isn't something I would brag about winning. The Democrats of this country are so clueless to the future ramifications of not finishing the drill. Do you honestly think they will leave us alone if we pull out? Do you honestly think that Bush Sr.and Jr. created the terrorist problems by themselves? You probably do even though this whole thing spans over 5 or 6 presidents. Are we to become Spain, where we become so afraid of the terrorist that we become cowards in adversity? Get a clue you idiot.

Violence continues in Iraq but the number of instances has fallen since the security crackdown. Why aren't the Democrats taking a wait and see aproach. If this surge works then there will be peace in Iraq and our troops will come home with honor and dignity. Why sound the horn for retreat when the battle is obviously turning in favor of our brave men and women. I know this post will get alot of thumbs down but I could care less. I would love to see our military come home proud of what they were able to accomplish instead of coming home being told "Nice try"

He is just following in a great liberal President's footsteps. FDR told congress something similar when funding was being debated during the lend-lease act.

As a matter of fact FDR dared congress not to fund his items, he stated that regardless he would have them.

Now that is a President who played with Congressional Powers and everyone is worried about President Bush exercising his rightful power.

Talk about liberal hypocrites, sheesh.

Great ready to open your mouth wide and eat his veto. He has the constitutional authority. Besides these same Demotraitors voted to use force in Iraq originally. They are such Fing hypocrites.

I had done one of those petition things on line, where they also want you to send a message to your state senators ans congress people telling them that you don't support Bushes, stay the course policy. Today I got a letter from Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina, and she says that she will support this policy, regardless of what I, or anyone else thinks!

That's right, as it should be, Nanci and company are running nothing!

Good for Elisabeth Dole, no wonder she got voted back in. If I was in her state I'd damn sure vote for her!
