So my friend has this issue going on right now. Her and this guy are friends at school, but it turns out my friends ex is very jealous. I guess her ex came up to the school to see if my friend was there. He seen the two [my friend and the guy], and my friend tried to talk to him because he was mad at the fact he seen them together. The guy slowly walked away because he didn't want nothing to do with it. Then all of a sudden, the ex backed his car into the guy. The guy was fine because he walked away from the scene. Now the guy is pressing charges and is not speaking to my friend.
Now my friend is telling me, she talked to the police, and she might get expelled from the University, and if she does get expelled, she would not be able to apply to any CSUs or UCs. and they might charge her wit conspiracy.

Basically what I'm trying to ask is, is that possible for a student to get expelled from this type of situation? She wasn't apart of this, and she didn't know her ex was going to come

First of all the police don't have the authority to expel anybody from any college.
Secondly she can't be charged with conspiracy. There was nothing to be conspired about in what you've said.
Thirdly if the Dean of Students decides to expel somebody they are free to apply to any other college they want.
Finally the police are permitted to lie to get info. and believe me 90% of what the say to you is a lie.
WRITE THIS DOWN Guilty, innocent, spectator, bystander, or weren't even there, same answer, "I will answer questions only with an attorney present representing my best interest."
Say this 1 time only, then take a nap till one is there.
One more thing, after that story, don't believe everything your friend says

I am not a lawyer so I won't give out any legal advice. But for the expulsion part, since this happened on the school ground, the university can expel her, if they find that she was somehow involved. The general catalog contains policies on expulsion and violence toward another member of the university (i.e. student or faculty) is a cause for expulsion.

However, from your description, it doesn't sound like your friend had any foreknowledge that this was going to happen. What's the reason for possible charge of conspiracy? She did not conspire with her ex-bf to hit this guy with the car, right? The police will need proof such as a phone conversation between your friend and her ex planning to harm this guy.

The police and the university are separate entities so they may come to different conclusions and hand down different sanctions, if any. What is your friend's ex being charged with? It sounds like this could have been just an accident. In any case, if any of them are going to be charged with any criminal acts, they will need to consult a lawyer.

Anything is possible, but the accident wasn't her fault so she should be fine.
